    Ferrari theme park

    http://www.stumbleupon.com/su/1Z1dSr...ober-2010.html

ferrari world abu dhabi will host a number of attractions, including rides for children of all ages,
providing the complete ferrari experience: over 20 state-of-the-art attractions, each designed to
bring to life a different part of the ferrari story, including the world’s fastest rollercoaster, travelling
at speeds exceeding 200 km/h and emulating the thrilling sensation of being in a ferrari f1 car, or
the g-force experience taking passengers on an adrenaline-pumping ride up over 62 m, through
the roof and back down again.

And exactly why is it in the UAE and not Italy?

Because the UAE wants to be the BSD of the tourism industry, and has been throwing money into investment projects for years now, most notably in Dubai but apparently Abu Dhabi as well.

True, the projects started to stop in 2008 based on the economy. Half of all the UAE's construction projects, have either been put on hold or cancelled, leaving a trail of half-built towers on the outskirts of the city stretching into the desert. Property values in some area's in Dubai fell by as much as 60% in just a few months. Sucks when that happens..

yeh but wouldn't ferrari want to use it to the benefit their own country and attract tourism there instead? I'm sure it would definitely benefit many businesses in its surrounding areas

Ferrari is a capitalist corporation, not some beacon of nationality or patriotism. They are driven by profits like any other company, so the highest bidder wins. In this day and age it just so happens that the ME Oil Barons have the funds to outbid anyone.

It's just the same as if they wanted to build a Chevy amusement park. The Chevy CEOs would jump at the idea. Sure, some die hard Chevy fanboys will get all bent out of shape because it's not in America, but the CEOs don't care. Profits are profits, and now they can jerk off into wads of hundred dollar bills instead of crusty government aid checks.

Or hundred rupee bills, or whatever the fuck Allah Gahala Jihad will pay them with.

It wasn't the weather that ruined it, it was the ridiculous expectations of the planners.

They wanted to become some center of Western fun/pleasure/vacation etc, but they still had all the traditional rules in place. No alcohol, no smoking, females must be clothed 'respectfully' (no shorts, t-shirts, etc), night clubs and places closed at 10pm.

Dubai has so much fucking $$ that it wouldnt matter if tourist came or not. The population in UAE alone could support that idea/park.

Besides the clothing/kissing, those rules apply to pretty much all the malls I live near.

It was just an example. I understand having those rules in the mall, but they have similar "Respectful clothing" signs as road signs along the boardwalk in front of the beach.

someone correct me if I'm wrong but last I heard the major investors and loan companies in Dubai were in massive debt something like 20 billlion bucks. Apparently the global economy has taken a chunk from them to and many countries are now worried they wot be able to repay their debts to other countries.http://online.wsj.com/article/SB1000...704800362.html

greedy towelheads combined with rich motherfuckers from all over the world, is what spawned this disaster. They didnt factor in something called global economy.

That ferrari place is there because Arab Shakhs buy more exotic cars then anyone in the world. The smell of armpits must be unbearable at that amusement park
