    Question STRANGE S60 Rear?????

Does anyone have this rear end or hear any positive or negative feedback on this???? Had the car for four months and already got TSP long tube headers and true duals dumped at the axle, tuned by frost, UMI 3-point subframe connectors, SLP strut bar and driveshaft safety loop. Still have the stock 10-bolt, but wanted to upgrade the rear before I start adding any additional power adders. I've read several places, including on here about how horrible Moser rears are, so I was looking for any advice that can be given. Motor stuff I get, but rear ends confuse the hell outta me, so I'm kinda in the dark. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

I think Ryan from UMI runs a Strange in his car. You can shoot him a PM if you have any questions.

    strange dana s60 in mine....

have had for almost a few years now... install is easy. no setup to the rearend needed.
(my car, z28 m6, full bolt-on, large cam, rev limiter 7800 is where I launch)

has about 6-8 driving miles and tons of track passes, both drag and circuit.
The rearend is bullet proof and completely fine.
I would suggest the s60 to anyone...

How street friendly is the S60? I've heard its big. Any issues with it size as far as exhaust routing or suspension components/pumpkin clunking against the body? Any problems with the driveshaft or suspension stuff fitting?

good question.... the s60 is very street friendly. Mine has a 4.10 gear works great with the m6... however the torque is the issue. I slams against the floor of the car sometimes.

easy fix.. hammer to the floorboard and make room (most people do this)
    or
strap pieces for rubber to the top of the torque arm to pad/quiet the hit

ah now I remember hearing that previously. So the torque arm needs a little add floorboard clearance...sounds fairly easy to fix that issue. I'd like to see some good pics of someone's S60 in one these cars.

Yes I do. It is a quality rear end, no fitment issues, no noise issues. I was impressed with both the fitment and packing Strange offered.

Now remember with the S60 you need to purchase there shorter drive shaft which adds more cost. If the vehicle is a mid hp car the Strange 12-bolt might be best.

    Hope that helps!

so some people have torque arm clearance issues with the big S60 and some don't? interesting. Must have something to do with the cars having different suspension setups/ride heights?

Correct, the clearance issues are going to depend on the vehicle height. The lower the car, the less clearance.

You have to remember how large the S60 rear end is compared to stock. The torque arm bolts to the left side of the rear end. So as the rear end housing gets larger the further the torque arm will go to the drivers side and the closer it will become to the tunnel area. Most manufactures offer two sets of holes in their torque arms to allow it to be trimmed and slide in further for more clearance. But regardless of torque arm brand clearance issues and making room is going to be a must with this rear end.

    Hope that helps!
