My grandparents back yard had same issue. Dug insanely deep and found out there was a crack into a hollow limestone cavern area where dirt kept falling into from vibrations of cars and shit. Cemented it up, problem solved.

There are uses for the land after it is mined. There are Thousands of acres around here that are used for ohv and horse trial, camping, hunting, fishing that were at one time pit mines. The land is not useless once mined.

Group of girls go exploring some little known cave. Get lost. Batteries in headlamps begin to die. Etc etc.

Movie critics would probably diss it but I like those types of movies. I have it on DVD.

We have several strip mines here, and when they get finished all they do is fill them up with water, and plant trees, stock it with fish and make it a very nice park or camping grounds whichever you wish to call it. But they still have rehabilitation for the land after the company gets finished with it.
