Had to read over that 4-5 times but I sort of understand a little better now.
So in plain english, what you're saying is, I guess.....the higher compression your motor has, the higher octane fuel it must run?
Like for example, I know my Dad's FJ run's on 93, while my truck run's on 87, and I'm guessing that's because of the compression differences between the 4.0 in his truck and the 5.3 in mines.
And I know with Alcohol, only engines with super high compression (I guess for example, some race built engines) can run off of it, I believe, like putting Alcohol into my truck would be a really bad thing. I could be 100% wrong about all of this since this is all new to me though.

your dad is wasting money unless it's supercharged. A 4.0 will run on cat piss. Your truck is e-85 ready brah.. Ours was atleast. Bumping the compression helps performance an efficiency with ethanol, but it's not mandatory

Thanks for breaking it down, I don't have much else to say on this since it's going to take a while for me to fully understand what it all means, but I'll keep reading it over until I get it, which like I said, will take a while, this whole fuel thing is all new to me.
Thanks again for the help though, it's much appreciated.

Yeah, running 93 isn't really neccessary with his truck. But it's weird, he can run 87 octane if he wanted, but we've heard the truck get's a tad bit better MPG's on premium and will run better as well, and it says to use premium on the fuel door and in the owners manual.
But it's a known fact Toyota fills them up with 87 when you buy them from the dealer.
There is a lot of controversy on the FJ's fuel grade, but that's just a completley different topic than what we were orignally talking about.

Since when the hell do roaches fly?!?! I go out to get some papers outta the Bird, make the mistake of turning on the porch light and sure as hell something flies in. I'm thinking one of those big ass moths til the wife dives off the couch and starts yelling about "what is that!" upon further investigation it's a flying roach! It's flat now, curtains halfway ripped outta the wall....
