Engine oil opinions?
Have a 2002 Camaro SS SLP with 57,000 miles. About to change the oil again. What are your thoughts on what to use? Right now I have Valvoline Synpower 5-30 with a K&N filter. Been hearing some good stuff on the German Castrol 0-30? Also considering Pennzoil Platnium? Thanks people

I've been tld you could actually do damage running a 0 or 5-30 because it's just to thin and doesn't coat aswell. But then again I take things I'm told with a grain of salt

Not too thin...
This is a commonly held misconception. 0W-30 and 5W-30 motor oil viscosities are not too thin. In fact, my car calls for 5W-30 and I use 0W-30.
I like 0W-30 because it's got slightly better start-up flow/protection no matter the outside ambient air temperature. It's not simply a cold weather motor oil; use it year around.
If they made a negative five (-)5W-30 motor oil, I'd use it.

German Castrol 0w 30 - the WS6 store carries it or many autozones have it.

I use Penzoil, Mobile One, Castrol, pretty much whatever sythetic they have on sale at Pep Boys. Last few have been Penzoil and a purolater gold one filter with the nice grip or a Mobile one filter. Sometimes K&N. Like I said long as it's full synthetic ad not Royal Purple it goes in the car. I change my oil every 4 TO 5 Months anyway. Hardly even dirty when I change it since the car comes out only a couple times a month. My 5.0 and trailblazer get the same thing, except I have used O Reilly's synthetic with a Mobil one filter in those 2 since they had it for $18. Only part that sucks is you get those deals and you only get 5 qts. My TB needs six so I always get stuck buying an extra. At least 5.5qt vehicles you can buy an extra and get 2 changes outta it.
