Pewter- 2002 Vette
C5 died while driving...won't start.
So, my '02 C5 all stock just died while driving around 60mph. All guages were fine, oil pressure, temp, etc. Oil level was ok. Tried to start and it wouldn't unless giving it alot of throttle. Then it would only run for a few seconds on what sounded like 1 or 2 cylinders.
On a side note, I think it died at the same time I set the cruise control. Could this have caused this?
I haven't checked any fuses yet, just had the car towed. Real weird...

Did you check the fuel pressure?

I would try cleaning your MAF. Do you use an oiled filter? Wouldn't think this would cause a problem that big but it's worth a shot.

I agree with checking fuel pressure. Kinda sounds like a possible fuel pump failure.

and with others..sounds like a fueling issue. I'd check fuses also and connections ..make sure the two connectors going to the pcm are good and tight.
tell us more about before this happened..rain ? anything odd happen? has it done anything like this before ?
the more info you can give us the better.

Ok, so the dealer just got back to me. They said that the Cat Converters are clogged??? Wierd. It wasn't having any performance issues, only 69K miles. I can't really believe that the cat's are bad already.

Ok, so here's the emissions warranty...
http://www.epa.gov/oms/consumer/warr95fs.txt
I guess I'm going up there in the morning and throw a fit before dropping $2,000 on a new Cat... It shouldn't be clogged at 69k miles no matter what...
I just would think the car would have a check engine light on or something before just dieing and won't start. Maybe it would even idle rough or something???
