I was wondering if anyone knows of some legal headers for a 2000 Camaro SS in California?

I don't believe any long tubes will pass emissions in California. I think your options are shorties or stockers, and shorties don't do provide much gains over stockers.

I was told that longtubes are ilegal in Cali
even if you have the cats.
Short headers are legal but only on certain years (I think)
cuz on my 98 z28 I was told I can go for short headers

Yeah I have longtubes right now and I just got cats installed. So stock or short headers are my options? Recommendations?

I like my longtubes but I have a small exhaust leak. Id also like to make the car legal so when i eventually sell it I won't run into any problems, but thats a ways away. I found some pacesetter longtubes that someone said are legal in CA, http://www.jegs.com/i/Pace+Setter/766/70-2255/10002/-1
Not sure if thats legit or not though.

I have an exhaust leak due to a small bend in the headers. I dont wanna get rid of them but I do wanna make it able to pass smog so when I do sell it eventually itll be a lot easier. If I can find any legal longtubes in CA that would be great.

You should go to those places where they fix exhaust and all. That
Maybe they can fix it.
But I dnt think you are gonna find LT legal for smog

hear that some rural counties still only do safety but IDK about cali best to check with you DMV or DPS to see what qualifies as a OBD or OBD2 safe exhaust and see if your car has exemptions

LTs are illegal everywhere (all 50 states) bc they move the location of the cats. Only options in cali is stock exhaust manifolds, shorties, or pay someone to let you pass visual inspection.
You can still pass the emissions testing with LTs and a catted-y, thats why its not as big of a deal in other states.Last edited by peterlawl84; 06-28-2010 at 09:50 AM.

The OP asks what headers are LEGAL. Last I knew, paying someone under the table to have you pass emissions is still ILLEGAL.
