We've already covered the cleaning, shopping and such. A lot of reading, watching Banish's tuning video, made dinner for everyone last night, walking on the beach in the evening. Really not much of anything. Beach vacations are not my thing -- this is to keep the wife happy.

If you're really bored maybe you can convince some people down there to make a little easier access to the OBX from the rest of NC. It's like an extra two hours to get there.

I guess you have to adapt the "throwback" mentality of the way the beach used to be. They are pretty strict about commercialization of the area (see the lack of "chain" retailers?). You could try to find some of the wild horses (Spanish Mustangs, I think) that are around there. Believe it or not, there are black bear on the coast of NC too. Once at the OBX, you are sort of stuck. Gotta go the "one with nature" route to really enjoy the area.

    Try to have fun dude!

Looks like we are heading to the Duck Deli to test our intestinal retention powers. My stepson failed miserably last time we were here -- I think we stopped 3-4 times on the ride home and spent over an hour total in the can. Last time we do that the day before we leave.

Hey there... it's very sweet of you to keep your wife happy.. When I go down to OBX I leave my husband and kid at home! They don't do the beach either... The car ferry to Hatteras is a great day trip, although it's a beach, but what a beautiful beach! Hey Mini Golf! I think I've played every course there! I guess you've climbed the dunes? Food wise Sam And Omies down at the old Jennette's Pier. A favorite local hangout. Breakfast is great at Nag's Head Pier. Have a great time! I'm so in need of an Outer banks fix it's not funny

^^ And mini golf it was. Yesterday, I took my daughter and nephew for a ride. We stopped and played 18 holes at a real nice course located around MP 4. From there, we came back up and had lunch at Awful Arthur's. Clams Casino and crab legs for Sammie and I, and my nephew munched chicken strips and fries. The restaurant is right across from Avalon Pier so we had to go out on that. Pretty rickety and showing its age, but still standing:

Just after we turned around to walk back to the beach, there were dolphins off the end of the pier. Missed a good photo op. We then ran down to Manteo and the North Carolina Aquarium. It was actually quite crowded so we didn't spend a whole lot of time there. Made for a nice outing and got to see some sights. I think Dawn and I are going for seafood tonight at the Sunset Bar & Grille in Duck.
