I was considering lasik not that long ago and didn't follow trough. From what I have read in this thread I'm glad I didn't. If u got lasik and still have to wear glasses at any point of the day then what the fuck.

Had it done in 2007. My vision was 20/250. I also had a bad astigmatism. When I walked in, I could not even tell there was a clock on the wall. 10 minutes later when I walked out, it was real smokey, but I could actually tell the time! I do not regret it one bit. I couldn't see the clock in the middle of the night. I wore contacts since I was 15, and cokebottle glasses before that. This was a great thing for me. I'm 44, and you can't fight some things. Sometimes I do use +1 reading glasses. Otherwise nothing. It was a great thing for me. Good luck.

I wonder who was the first patient to have it done? We're going to shoot this laser beam in your eye and you should see better. lol

I had the touchless done for 4000 an eye.. That was the best money I ever spent.
My proceedure was fairly basic. They put numbing drops in your eye about 10 minutes beforehand. Then they sat me in a lazyboy recliner and put some kind of contraption to hold my eye open. They slid the chair under the machine and about 10 seconds later pulled me out and sent me on my way. I live close to Pittsburgh PA and chose the same people who do our professional atheletes. I figured their eyes are under contract for millions of dollars, so they should be able to do the job right...

Had it done in 07. I have 20/15 vision now. Do it, you'll love it.

I had it done in 2004 when I was 21. Vision is great during the day. Was 20/10 during my first check up and 20/20 during my most recent. I do have some halo's during night time driving, but not that bad. Nothing that would keep me from being able to drive. Plus, you've got lifetime corrections should you need it. Would I do it again? Absolutely, no hesitation.
Sister had it done and I've had two cousins get it done as well.

I had PRK done in 04' Greatest thing I've ever done. Today mine is still 20/10 left eye, 20/15 right eye. Eye doc asked why I was wasting both our times. My reply was my piece of mind and yours an easy payment from my insurance. Said good point see you next yr.
I highly recommend getting it done.

I had Lasik over a decade ago, when quite young and with very bad eyesight. $4000 got me to 20/20, which lasted until recently. It might have increased my sensitivity to light. The doctor I've been consulting says touch-ups eventually can be needed. If possible, go to a doctor who guarantees results for several years. I'm surprised by the sheer vanity here
But maybe I shouldn't be - untinted glasses don't look cool, and sports cars are about looking cool.

Yeah because with PRK they scrape the epilitheum (sp) of the eye off and then laser the cornea to its proper shape which corrects your vision. Then the epilitheum of the eye regenerates because its like the skin fo the eye and heals back over that part of the eye.
With LASIK they actually use a blade or another type of laser to cut the epilitheum and then peal it back so they can laser the cornea. Once they correct the the cornea they then flop that flap back ontop and it never completely heals. So in high winds or under pressure of water while diving there have been cases where LASIK patients have had that flap cause problems. Chances are slim to none unless you do those two things a lot with your job which I do. That is the way it was explained to me by my doctor and also by the military who was paying for it.
I will say though PRK hurts. LASIK is almost painless from what I have heard. I was resting for a week after PRK and wore sunglasses all the time even at night for like two weeks afterwards.

I am definitely going ahead with it. Made an appointment for consult, couldn't get in for almost a month though =(
Not scared about flap comming undone, from what I read with laser cutting of the flap it is so precise they actually lock back together.

Had mine done a year ago for $2k now I have 20/15 in both eyes. It wasn't really painful after it was more annoying , like when you get sand in your eyes. Keeping from rubbing them was the hardest part but I got some bitching protective goggles to wear afterwards so I couldn't rub them.

+1 For 4 days after my eyes hurt like hell, I can't wear contacts and the clear one they put in to help that membrane heal properly felt like acid in my eyes. When the doc removed it within a hour pain went away. I had to wear sunglasses for 8 weeks inside. Also for a month I couldn't look at computer monitors. Something about them that made my eyes hurt. Pain and all I still would go through it again and always recommend it.

Best money ever spent, back in the year 2000 or something like that.
Aziz Anis in Lincoln, NE.
20/15-20/20 back then, & started as 20/100 or worse.
Now need to use reading classes occasionally for small print.
But the majority of the public need reading glasses whether or not you've had Lasik.
So I knew that was coming sooner or later anyway.
No bad effects at all.
