apple OSx gurus with printers
Has anybody ever used a printer driver from a different printer with their printer on OSx? I have an epson stylus photo 820 [old i know] and when i was on classic, i could print full bleed 8.5x11's. when i went to X, it forced a border on everything and it's aggrevating. I've been dealing with this for 3 years now. i've tried various page setups, etc. so i'm wondering if i use like epson 940 driver [the next version up, and was made for X] if it will even work with my set up?

it would really depend on how different the two printers are.. alot of time if the hardware is physically different, the driver wont work...

Try visiting the Epson site to see if there is an updated driver for your printer. I doubt if the newer drivers will work on the old printers. You might try it tho, it won't cost anything but the time it takes to see if it works.
Here's a link to try:

You might have to buy a new printer, they're cheap enough. I know, that's not what you wanted to hear.

I ran 9.2.2 way longer than I should have.
You should get with it bud if you're into the Macs.

Epson probably never bothered porting all the features of that printer to OS X. When that printer was new X was still in Public Beta. Odds are you're going to have to replace it with a newer model.

ewwww...G3 and X aren't happy partners; you should call up apple and ask them if they have any left over dual processor G4's [last year's model] and see if you can get one for cheap as dirt.

they sold me a dual 1.25GHz processor g4 and 17" tube monitor for 1600, 3 years ago. It was right b4 the G5 came out and they had a few left over.
If you're looking for a mac laptop, you can get a refurbished one for 1200 or so. Google it.
