Shifting problems on my 98 Ls1
On my 98 Ls1 trans am, I am having a problem were sometimes when I go WOT it hits the rev limiter before the trans shifts. Sometimes it seems to shift ok. Last time it did it I was getting on an on ramp and put it to the floor, it dropped to first, took off, and then didnt shift to second. It hit the rev limiter and I had to let off the gas to get it to shift. Any ideas?

Sounds like the clutches are starting to slip.... Start saving for a rebuild or a new tranny its only going to get worse with time..... U may try a fluid change but i wouldnt do a complete flush. Try not to beat on the car too much until ur ready for a new tranny. sorry to be the bearer of bad news

Quakertowns just down the road! I changed the trans fluid and filter last year, had a feeling the trans might be getting whooped. Was hoping for a miracle fix :-)

Ive never done anything to the trans. Except set the computer for hard shifts. Rubber hitting second turns heads

HMMMM that maybe some of the issue shift kits are good imo and in most cases help out the tranny but if they arent properly installed or are to harsh like some of the stage 2-3 kits ive seen they can hurt the tranny by wearing out bands clutches etc.

Just throw some sawdust in there - it'll take care of all your problems! lol!
It's not how fast you can go. It's how fast you can get there.

Sawdust is only good for cars your selling to friends! I worked on a truck for someone, ended up it had a spun bearing and the person put gearlube in the engine so it would knock.
