Intake Manifolds?
Is the FAST intake manifold hands down better then anything else? For the price of one it should be but how does an ls6 or a bbk manifold compare to it?

Fast is made by Wilsons,,,,who makes some of the best intakes for any make/model out there. I've used their porting services (which they also offer) and it's top notch as well.
Short of running a victor intake/elbow combination for fuel injection or a carb setup I think the fast is hard to beat for an all out application.
But that's why they are pricey.
It's really up to you and what you want out of the car.
Personally??? I never plan to ring every last bit out of our 4th gens since they are primarily street driven, so the LS6 does a fine job for me. I'd rather spend $1,500 on other things.

Well if the fast is better then the ls6 what about if the ls6 was ported or the bbk manifold. Has anyone tried that one?

I have seen the FAST make great power gains it just depends on the combo.
I have a LS6 intake but I am FI so air goes either way. lol.
let me know if you are wanting either one. I might know where a used LS6 is and can get you a good deal on the FAST.
thanks,
Mark

You could port the LS6, but there isn't a whole lot of meat to work with. Better off sending it to a professional porter. At that point I'm not so sure it would be cost effective compared to just buying a Fast and being ahead of the game to start with.
It's really up to you and what you want out of the car and how much you are willing to spend.
I have no experience with the BBK other than I know it's aluminum. Some people shy away from it just because of it's ability to heat sink, or hold heat compared to a composite intake.
I never saw that as a serious threat to performance, since it's a dry intake anyway, meaning no fuel actually passes through it.

the FAST is a superior manifold and will put down better #'s than an LS6. you can have the LS6 ported but its probably not worth the $$$ for the little return you will get. Some people just cant justify spending 800-900 on a manifold alone and then spending another 200-400 on a throttle body. personally if i had money to burn if buy the FAST (its awesome) but the LS6 will work well enough and the money i saved is better spent on other things

Alright so the common consensus is that the Fast intake manifold is better. Now it comes down to size. Will a 102mm manifold and tb make a noticeable difference compared to a 92mm and tb

if a 92mm isnt giving you any restrctions, which on most cars its more than enough, then there is no need for a 102mm. bigger disp motors will like the 102mm. for stock cubes 92mm is what you need

The FAST 102mm LSXR is for rectangular port heads only. (LS3/L92)
You have a stock cathedral port head.370 CI - Twin 6766 Turbo - Jakes stage 5 4L80E - MWC 9" - Holley Dominator
Build in progress...

He could always put in a 408 stroker with L92 heads on it *nudge nudge**hint hint* and then you could use the LSXr. thanks hi-po i forgot about that

The 92 will support alot.
Let me know if you are needing a good price on it.

I was wondering if they did recently. If its priced around the 102 for LS3/7/92 heads, its to damn expensive. The power gained over a ported LS7 was disappointing, especially for the huge money spent for the intake and then further porting. A 92mm will flow plenty for almost all H/C stock cubed motors.
On a side note, I still find it completely ridiculous that you can spend 1200+ on a FAST xxX... and STILL have to port it to get full numbers out of it.
