Some n/a cobras ('99?) were heavily overrated, but ford made a free change to the engines to fix it. Gm underates their's 305 at the crank my rear (4th gens). Also, the original heavy duty truck 350's of my c10's era have forged cranks, high nickel blocks, four bolt mains, and pm rods. Not really special.

Check it out, the new CS, ugly stock imo, but i could see it looking good with a drop, CCW's, and a rear spoiler delete or a milder one, the stock one is just ridiculous.

This better be it for the special edition mustang gt's though, ford goes way overboard with the different trim mustangs you can get imo. They are usually just adding tacky apperance mods to a stock gt, pointless.

Stuff like that I just don't get, but hey, they sell, thats all that matters.

And I know for a fact i'd take one over a new camaro, even more than before since they've got the 5.0's in em (flame suit on)

Only problem is that gm has always thrown way more cubes into the equation resulting in lower strung motors with more cheap potential. 302 cubes just doesn't tickle my balls quite like 346 or better.

For a gearhead the engine is important. Regardless of a motor deficit everyone knows stangs will sell like, well, stangs.

Well they're slugs for the power, up around 4200 pounds. If you though the 3900 pound fords and chebbies were portly...

What i'm trying to figure out here is why didn't Ford think of this before to improve the GT? Gm has been playing the cubic inch game with them for a long time, they are just now catching on that their little N/A 281 3v's and 2v's weren't doing the trick?

    It's about economics, not competition.

what trick is that ?? selling ??... They were selling the cars as fast , or faster , than they could make them...If you mean HP ... only a few buy GTs over the 6 anyway ...

Plus they sold alot more 4.6's in cop cars or jimbo's extended cab than mustangs. The 5.0 was ancient, worse for emissions, bad mileage etc. And they had 4.6's in crown vics already for years.

Yea, i meant in terms of power, but you know, thats not really what the manufacturers are concerned about anymore, it seems all they care about is what sells, kind of sucks imo.

Let me just say I like the way this has mostly been a civil thread and I think we can keep talking about this new Ford engine and Stang as long as we want ...
