It's pretty simple rules. Look for trouble, get trouble.

I don't have ccw (fuck IL) but I do love my Glock model 36 because of it's small size and big punch(.45), plus it is one of the most reliable guns I own
here it is pictured with my S&W 9mm and colt 1911

I have a Glock 36....I put the Peirce mag extensions on as they have a significant positive effect on grip/control.

As a Deputy Sheriff, and someone who used to sell firearms, I told people buying firearms were like buying cars.
Just because someone has an F-150 and you're looking for a car...don't buy it because they say it's great. Ask WHY they have it and what do they need it for?
Does the gun fit in your hand? can you reach the mag release, slide stop easily?
Can you handle the recoil of the firearm?
What can you afford?
as far as a holster goes, it depends what clothing you wear?
are you in a warm climate? or cold?
you might need something lite.
It's highly doubtfull you'll need 15 rounds. From what I read most firefights use about 2.3 rounds. Any more you'll be charged with excessive force.

SOM- 2002 FireHawk
I carry a S&W model 340PD. Most likely it is in my pants pocket or maybe jacket pocket. Light, easy to conceal and with a .357 round, packs enough punch. I have many options, but I like the easy to carry and easy to draw, with some knock down. I don't want anyone to know I am packing. Hope no one has to find out. This is not the type of wheel gun you want to plunk beer cans with.
You have to know what you are comfortable with carrying as well as shooting it. If you do not like how it carries, you will not want to carry it.
I have been carrying this model since the first year it came out. Prior to that a S&W airweight for many, many years...

Kahr P9 in a Galco UDC2, very concealable. S&W M&P full size .357sig in a cheap iwb kydex type holster. Glock 19C in a Galco Royal Guard iwb. S&W 442 with a Galco pocket holster. One in the pipe and hi cap mags. All of these are held by a 1 1/2" SB1 Galco belt.
Any and all of these are my CCW, just depends on my dress and where I'm going. I got M3 lights for the G19 and M&P, usually keep the lighted M&P under my pillow since it has the most firepower.

I usually carry my HK USP 9mm 4" (left rear)
BUT, I have been growing quite fond of my Kimber Pro Carry II .45 (right rear)
when attire requires a smaller gun, sometimes its the S&W model 60 .357 (LF)mag, or the Sig P238 .380 (RF)
95 gr JHP Buffalo Bore .380, 124gr +p+ Gold Dot 9mm, 125gr Gold Dot .357 mag, 230 gr Ranger T series .45
I carry the bigger 3 guns IWB @ 5:00 in a Concealco.com leather forward cant IWB. THe Sig gets carried either in my pocket, or watch pocket.
