Run it. It isn't much money to give it a try. If you don't like it you can park and watch other people run. My biggest regrets in life are not trying new things...

I say run it also. Good practice against the light. Plus you get the feel for how things work.

And if you're in the far lane remember to practice lane courtesy. It's mandatory that you let the car in the tower lane go off the track 1st so you don't cross in front of them.

lol I've own the car for almost 2 years now and haven't run it. lol Maybe it is time to run it....... 14's just seem slow i'm gunna have my ass handed to me by all the cars. lol Hell the quads they run out at the track will probably smoke me lol o well its all fun nothing to take to the heart guess i can always look at it like this: " There will always be a slower car and there will always be faster one"well most of the time lol."

A buddy of mine finished third for the season in street class at New England Dragway a few years back with his 1996 Pontiac Grand Am that ran between 16.7-17.1 seconds... He was very good on the lights and the car was pretty consistent. We lined up partway through the last event of the year and that race determined who would finish second and who would finish third... I remember waiting a long time to launch as I was running 12.0x at the time...

I really don't remember and I don't have the slips... but I was running mid 14s the whole night and I think it was around 2.2 to 2.3. It was embarrassing when I ran a 14.5 and lost to one of those supercharged cobalts... I never ran the car again. The car is a 94 with the newer front end on so people assumed it was an ls1 also which made it even worse lol

    When my 96 Z28 Vert had 29,xxx on it it only ran a 14.2 @ 96.

It took some finess to get it up (down?) to a 14.02 @ 100. It was not modded when I ran the 14.2. I had a cutout and CAI on it when it ran the 14.02. I traded it in on my 02.

I ran consistent 13.5-13.6 back in the day when my 1994 was mostly stock. Changes were Moroso cold air, Edelbrock 1 5/8 headers, BFG Drag Radials, and a short throw Hurst. MPH was typically 100-101 with 1.9 sixty foot times in decent (not great) air. However the 16" rims and 3.42 gearing (M6) is a significant advantage over 3.23s and 18" rims...

I just looked at a timeslip from the 1998 bracket finals where I ran 13.651 at 100.63 with a 1.971 sixty foot time. 1/8 split was 8.757 at 80.25

So no track this weekend to cold out to run any cars so they didnt open the gates. Weather is suppose to be warm come next weekend so we will run cars then. Any advice with my 18'' rims should i throw my 17" on instead what would be a good size for my 323 gear ?

I would leave it alone, run it, and have fun. The experience will give you a baseline for any future modifications. See if someone has a TAG weather unit while you are there are write down the DA. It won't be perfect but it will give you a reasonable guess as to weather conditions during your time at the track.

My local track can vary from -400 to +3000 feet in calculated DA depending on barometric pressure, temperature, and humidity levels and as a consequence elapsed times can vary by almost half a second over the course of a full season.

The normal condsideration of tires/rim size for drag racing are taller tires+ shorter rims have more flex at the launch which is better for traction. I have 15" rims on my 1994 Camaro and wuith stock 26" tall tires it runs in the high 11s (11.7-11.8) normally. In order to compete in the street legal category I had to go to 28" tall tires to slow down the sixty foot times enough to keep me over 12.0...

so the matter of 1" in my case will make such a small difference it really wont matter. Any one have any advice to catch traction at the tree? Im not going to power brake at the tree like i see some do cause i know ill only spin tires. Also how much more grip will the track give me as of now my car spins tires through 1st and 1/4 through 2nd. 275/40r/18's BFG G-Force

    3.23 rear+3.06 first > 2.66 first+3.42 rear
To the op, don't worry. There will probably be some ricers at the track too. But it would be extra embarrasing if they beat you.

Im not to worried about being beat i love my car it drives well handles great and is a comfortable ride lol. When i stumble upon that breif case of money one day ill maybe do a 383 stroker motor with alittle bit of laughing gas but that will all be after i put bigger stall and finish the suspension. But for now ill just keep dreaming

My car was modded before I got it, gears, drag radials, hooker long tubes, no cat, and some other stuff and ran 13.2s... I ran it 3.23 gears and some cheap kelly tires. I've seen ones run 13s stock and others struggle to run 14s. So give it a shot and get a baseline. I never planned to do much with mine, just wanted to go one night and see how it would run.

Sticky tires like Mickey Thompson ET Street drag radials.

Either that or learn to pedal it.
