Torque Arm for Moser 9"
I bought a Moser 9" rear axle housing not M9, would of like to but don't have 3,000 laying around, and I'm looking for a adjustable torque arm. One that will get ride of some clearence issues I have with the stock torque arm when I go over holes and bumps in and on the rode. The stock torque arm makes contact with the car's bottom side when I go over these pot holes in the road. As anyone else encountered this problem with a new 9"?

Did you run into any problems after installing your Moser 9"? I had to get a longer driveshaft and I had to get a adapter for my rear sway bar to clear the axle housing. And I have that mystery contact noise which I believe is the torque arm.

Yea, I had the sway bar clearance issue. There are sway bars that will clear, I didnt feel like spending more money as I alreeady had the upgraded BMR sway bars.
I have heard of some people having to "clearance" the TQ Arm tunnel, by way of hammer I didnt have any problems at all. I am using a PST driveshaft, to my knowledge, its stock size.

Only issue I had was the Moser rear didn't sit in perfect. Needed double adjustable LCA's to straighten it out.
I used my UMI tunnel braced torque arm with both the 10 bolt and the 9"

Tunnel brace being, where the torque arm still attaches to the tail of the transmission?

Could you post a link of where you purchased yours from?

- Edelbrock Adjustable Panhard Rod
- Eibach Drag Springs (stock height)
- KYB AGX Shocks

What pinion angle did you have set on your F-Body for the torque arm?

So I have put in a UMI tunnel brace adjustable torque arm, and have the pinion angle I believe at -5. I have a couple of questions I need help with. First question is going to sound stupid, but how do I know if I have negative or positive pinion angle? Second question is I have this god awful gear noise that comes from the differential when I let off the accelerator for a split second, any ideas???? Last question I've had this weird contact noise when I drive and go over a bump. It's been impossible to replicate the noise when the car is parked. I've tried bouncing/putting a load on the rear of the car to try to duplicate the sound, but I can't. This weird contact noise started after I installed the Moser 9". I also have non-adjustable LCA maybe I need to get adjustable and try to straighten the axle more. Or maybe I just need to take it to a differential specialist!! LOL One last thing that I can come up for a explanation for this weird contact noise is the original 12 year old shocks have pretty much had it. Any help is appreciated.

Negative pinion angle means that the differential is "pointing down" in the front. If you drew a line parallel to the road through the middle of your differential, the center point of the yoke would be below this line. The reason for negative pinion angle is that as the car accelerates, the rotational force of the tires against the pavement tries to rotate the axle. To put it in perspective, looking from the left side of the car it tries to rotate the axle clockwise, hence lifting the front up. By setting the pinion angle "negative" it actually results in almost zero pinion angle under acceleration.

Thanks for the help. Does anyone have any solutions to question two or three?

Banging noise could be the Torque Arm hitting the underbody of the car in the tunnel. I had some slight bang until I created clearance on mine with the TA rubbing over bumps. Since then, no issues. Did you set the gears in the differential up yourself? You can expect their to be a little louder whine coming from the 9" in general, but this can be essentuated if not set-up properly

No I didn't set the gears. MAE Racing did that for me. I just put in the third member and ran with it, and of course did the proper break-in procedures.
