I used to run a projector. I had it set up for 75" from about a 13 ft throw. Picture quality was great considering I never ran any media higher than 720p at it. Verizon broadcasts in 720p, so I figure there's no point in wasting money on a 1080p unit. In 5 years, when they finally broadcast in 1080p, I'll pick one up. Running a Panasonic 50" plasma right now. I've watched games on lcd, and hate them. I'll take plasma every day of the week, and twice on sunday.

Running an Onkyo receiver to Athena Technologies speakers. Two floorstanders (AF-S2) and center channel (AF-C1). I have surround bookshelves, but no good place to put them, so they're collecting dust.

I built my subwoofer. Tempest 15" using Adire Audio design. This thing rocks the house. The box is huge and doesn't work with the current setup, so I'm redesigning a new box; something a little more stealth and integrated into the entertainment center.

1080p is good for gaming though, but I agree. Even 720p is awesome.

How do you like those Athena's, I was about to buy all athenas, but when I went to go buy them, they were sold out.

I bet that 15" is nice ....I went outside after turning up my system to a healthy volume. I can hear the windows flexing and can clearly hear the music in the back yard with all the windows and doors closed I can't imagine what a 15" would do for me.

That is the way to go man, I could not be more happier with mine. What are you going to use for audio? What are the demensions of the room? Is this a dedicated room HT room your planning etc? Depending on the size a front PJ might be the way to go........

They sound great. I didn't realize how much sound you miss with crappy speakers.

Everything is so clear. When I hear certain noises, I sometimes think they are outside.

It' might be fine for a small bed room system etc, when we are talking 73+ dlp hometheater's etc, you have to get a full system..........

If you are worried about the speakers taking up to much space you have a lot of other smaller alternative's.......

Fantastic. As another member said, you really don't know what you're missing as far as clarity and sound quality is concerned, until you get a nice set of speakers. A nice receiver is a must to complement those speakers. I would highly recommend these speakers. Very good quality and they don't break the bank. That's the biggest reason I went with them; they were the best bang for my buck at the time. I've had them for about 5 years now.

Yeah, the tempest is a beast of a sub.

Big ole magnet on it. The bad thing about my sub build is that size of the box. 8 cu. ft. 2x2x2. Massive thing. Weighs about 75 lbs, at least. Pain in the ass to move around. I originally painted it a satin black, but resurfaced it with a cherry veneer a couple years ago. It's just too big to go anywhere. It's sitting in the garage right now and is about #24 on the list of things to do.

This isn't my build, but it's the same design, same size box.

I'll try to get some pictures of my setup when I get some time. Great thread though.

Here are the pictures I promised in post 19....

I love my setup, yep those are the HT-88s, with 8 inch drivers and they sound amazing. I have only used the tv speakers once or twice just to compare what I'm missing.

It's hard to believe, when I get my Denon installed it's going to sound even better because of the mic that's included. It'll bascially optimize the sound through calibration and determining how far away the speakers are and such. I think it's called "Audyssey Eq"
