Graphics card and Monitor combo.
Ok i just got this great job and with my first two paychecks i am trying to decide what i wanna get to upgrade my pc, well i know a graphics card and monitors but which one is the question.
Should i get a GTX295 CO-OP edition
Or should i get the new 5xxx series from ATI
My specs are as follows
Q6600 G0 @ 3.0Ghz (OCd)
3072MB of RAM
XFX 9600GT XXX (701/1800/1100)
380W PSU
I know i have to upgrade my psu so dont worry about that.
Then im opting for either 3 19'' Monitors or a 30'' Acer monitor.
But im stuck on trying to decide which graphics card and monitor combo to get. Anyone got any ideas for suggestions for the best combo.
Currently i only play MW,MW2, True Combat, and surf online. But when i get the upgrade im gonna buy Crysis and experience that on very high.
So any suggestions guys? Money is not a issue.

I don't know how much the Acer 30 inch is. But I know for the monitors I look et. I can get 3, 20-24 inches models for the price of the 30 inch (about $1,500). But ATI has been proven to have the most accurate colors. Look for an article in Maximum PC.

That explains alot....
I always wondered wy my SS in games looked diffrent (or worse imo) than the ones from a ATI card.
TBH i like the colors of the ATI card better. And me being partial colorblind they tend to stand out more.
Ok defiently getting the 5xxx series now.
As for the monitors. Maybe 2 24 inch monitors for now. Thanks!

You probably won't be able to find any of the high end 57XX, 58XX or 59XX series ATI cards. They've been on short stock pretty much every website I went to (newegg, tigerdirect, etc), but it's been about a week or two since I've looked. They're waiting to see what/when/if nVidia drops with their new DX11 cards.
To be honest, if you can wait, wait a month to see what happens with nVidia's next generations of cards. Don't wait to just buy an nVidia, what and see what ATI's response will be as far as pricing. If what you have works, and you have been gaming with it, it might be worth some coin to hold off a bit longer.
If money is no object and you just feel like throwing some away, by all means, do so. However, I would HIGHLY recommend checking out tomshardware.com to make sure that the cards you want to buy will run the games you want to play at the settings you want at the resolution you're going to be running at. It is also worth noting their base builds to compare with yours. The 57xx series and higher ATI card and the GTX295 will make your computer CPU bound, so any gains you get by blowing your wad an xfire/sli or even single card solutions will barely noticeable, if at all, once you go past a certain point with video cards.
You need more RAM as well.Last edited by Tide; 12-07-2009 at 08:30 PM.
