Thanks for the link smittro. Not sure if it's the cats, BUT that's a good consideration. They're brand new cats as a part of the TSP y-pipe which was installed a few hundred miles ago. Oh, and Power steering blew out on me today as something sliced the line, so I guess I'll tackle that first, then come back to the fuckin ticking.

Well, I figured it out I think. After I replaced my power steering lines, I was sitting there testing the wheel to get the air out of the lines and the sound went away. Again... So rev'd it back up a tad and it came back. I checked all the spark plugs and then touched the #7 wire at the coil pack and felt a tapping. I tried removing and reinstalling #7 about 6 times with no luck and finally pulled the coil, blew some canned air around it and cleaned everything up. Reinstalled and connected all the wires and fired her up.
No more sound and the tapping on the wire/coil is gone. I'm wondering if that coil may be taking a dump or just possibly trapped something. At least now I have an idea of something to look for since the sound could never be heard in the engine bay.

It's a new one on me. You would not believe how much of a relief it is to figure that shit out.

I can't tell any difference in driveability. That noise is just gone. Haven't had a chance to drive it much. If you've seen the US weather recently you'll notice a big area right over the galveston gulf coast. I've been wading into work.
It's pretty hard to tell performance changes when you've been driving a v6 pickup for weeks and then jump in your LS1. It always feels like a beast.
