I make a lot of money when I work, but my schedule varies because I'm an independant type of guy... Computer work and wedding ceremony work are my primary forms of income. For example, I booked a wedding yesterday moring for September 6th this year... No rehearsal, np special stuff, just an outside ceremony that will take about 20 minutes. I will spend a total of about three hours between drive time and the ceremony on the job. I was paid in full in advance, plus if I choose to hang out I can have grilled tenderloin at the reception (open bar too), and I can bring my wife. The wedding booked for $300.00.
I charge more per hour for computer work or work on a flat rate per project. The volume of work varies greatly depending on the requirements. I know last year I made $60,000.00 in three months (for example) but sometimes that could be the total revenue for the year so I never know what I am going to make.
My wife works full time as a car salesperson so I have insurance through her job and since we have no kids and have a very small mortgage life is good. Also... I am very cheap with certain things... I spend an hour this morning looking for a power window switch at a junk yard for my 1998 wagon since I am not paying $98.00 from the dealer for one. This afternoon I will check another junkyard.
We don't buy the latest and greatest stuff unless there is significant value to us to have the latest and greatest.
Since I'm a computer guy and a Microsoft Partner I have all the newest Microsoft programs for short money through their dealer program. I'm not buying a nice flat screen until my old 50" Toshiba DLP gives out or until my wife convinces me we really need it.
I haven't had lobster in almost a year (I live in Maine) but yesterday I saw a sign just down the road for $3.85 per pound so tonight I'll be picking up several bugs.
Being cheap can make money last a lot longer. Whenever i buy someting without researching the price or looking for the best deal I alsways ask myself if the "convenience" of "having it now" is worth whatever premium I might pay.
I'd like to be able to retire someday. I probably will never retire but I very much want the option of being able to retire without stress if I choose, and I want to be prepared for the inevitable health issues that sooner or later will come as we get older.

I work as a Project Engineer for a manufacturing plant in Chicago that is in the freight industry. I basically am the company guru for designing braking systems for trains. I have been working there 7 years. Started at 35K with 2 weeks vacation and now am making 66K with 3-1/2 weeks paid vacation. I work about 35-40 hours a week.
They also pay for my schooling which I started taking advantage of 3 years ago. I have a BA in Mechanical Engineering and am finishing up my MBA this fall. Hopefully in about 3-4 years I'll be in 6 digits.
My review is this month so if it's big enough, I'll repost the new figures!!!

Navy Blue Metallic- '00 Formy A4
I work in the shipping dept. for a chemical company, we make synthetic lubricants. It's definitely not my dream job, but I just kind of fell into it, and there's not much else out there that better until I go back to school.
Since we had tough times at the end of '08 and beginning of '09, I'm basically doing the work of 3 people since they had to lay off almost 1/3 of the work force.
I was originally just a shipper, but now I'm also doing receiving, warehouse organization, and alot of thing my old supervisor did before he got the boot.
I was making 15/hr (31.2k) before the ten percent pay cut, now I'm down to 13.50 (28k). More work for less money...awesome. At least I still have a job I guess.
We just heard we're getting bumped up 5% next week, for 14.25 (29.6k).
We're supposed to get the other 5% back by the end of the year if business continues to get better, and hopefully after that they'll bring back the bonuses.
(we used to get a bonus twice a year when times were good, depending on total sales, we got x% of our gross earings for that 6month period.)
Good news is that my boss has been talking me up to her superiors, she tells me she wants to see me get a title and hopefully a raise by the end of the year.
The also want to send me to get my CDL to be able to drive the company truck. Like I don't have enough to do already.
But hey, I'll take the free classes if they want to pay for it. It certainly can't hurt.
One thing I like about the job is the 4 weeks vacation I get, and we also get quite a few paid holidays. I also get along great with my coworkers, and my boss is awesome.

My job is so fucking unbelievable. I'll try to sum it up by first telling you about the folks I work with:
First, there is this supermodel wanna-be chick. Yeah, okay, she is pretty hot, but damn is she completely useless. The girl is constantly fixing her hair or putting on makeup. She is extremely self-centered and has never once considered the needs or wants of anyone but herself. She is as dumb as a box of rocks, and I still find it surprising that she has enough brain power to continue to breathe.
The next chick is completely the opposite. She might even be one of the smartest people on the planet. Her career oppertunities are endless, and yet she is here with us. She is a zero on a scale of 1 to 10. I'm not sure she even showers, much less shaves her "womanly" parts. I think she might be a lesbian, because every time we drive by the hardware store, she moans like a cat in heat.
But the jewel of the crowd has got to be the fucking stoner. And this guy is more than just your average pothead. In fact, he is baked before he comes to work, during work, and I'm sure after work. He probably hasn't been sober anytime in the last ten years, and he's only 22. He dresses like a beatnik throwback from the 1960's, and to make things worse, he brings his big fucking dog to work. Every fucking day I have to look at this huge Great Dane walk around half-stoned from the second-hand smoke. Hell, sometimes I even think it's trying to talk with its constant bellowing. Also, both of them are constantly hungry, requiring multiple stops to McDonalds and Burger King, every single fucking day.
Anyway, I drive these fucktards around in my van and we solve mysteries and shit.

Current best: 10.60/126.8- 1998 Pontiac TA WS6
Mechanical Engineer, last year I made almost 140k, but that was kinda a fluke year due to our company having an incredible year (despite the economy). But on average my base salary runs about 115k per year. Sucks having a high maintenance wife though, you single guys making 60k probably bank more than I do...

I’m a master at reading between the lines, what I see going on is…………….
1) The pretty girl is way too good for you and you’re upset about it.
2) The ugly smelly smart girl it too intelligent to date someone with your IQ, and of course this upsets you. Given the chance you would hit it anyway.
3) The stoner needs the smoke just to tolerate your shitty ass driving. You’re also upset he won’t share his weed with you. You also have a secret crush on him and are upset he’s not Bi.
I should get paid for this kind of accurate insight.
