that last master was bad, but i going to try to vac bleed it later today, wish me luck... i hope this fixes it.. im so tired of the clutch issue with this car..

I have a 02 TA I put a Fidanza twin clutch in November of 2008. I have taken the car twice to the track. First time I ran it three times and by the third time the stock clutch was so spongy it was sliping all the way down the track. I have since put this new clutch in the car and in May 2009 again went down the track one time and when I hit second it slipped all the way through the gear and hooked in third.

I have had several people drive the car- a Technician inspected my car today and said the say thing everyone else is telling me-"does that clutch always engage at the top"?

I would like further information for anyone on the shims that are mentioned and possible brake fluid boiling issues.

I helped put the clutch in and we replaced the slave and throw out with heavy duty units also placed a upgraded super light fly wheel in.

I have also modified the motor with AFR heads and comp custom grind cam (to give you the short version) pushing 427 hp rear wheels and 388 tq...Kooks long tube headers...

I am thinking to confirm shims are in place and do a good vacume bleed with a good high boiling point (500 degree fluid) along with checking for any hot points for possible boiling fluid? And what is the "Drill Mod"?

Any other suggestions and sorry for this being so lengthy!

well i just put some a spec clutch in my car, with the shim that came with it, new slave/master cylinder, and done the drill mod.. new fluid everytime i have changed masters now 3 times.. my clutch is too soft.. and my clutch lets out right off the floor, so i know for a fact it isnt right.. because they are supposed to let out at top, and the fact that its still a pain to put into gear, brand new tranny as well.. so it has to do with the hydrauics.. but idk and one have a clue? i might just go with the adjustable master to see what happens..

the "drill mod" is taking the steel braided line from the master to slave, and drilling it out on the master cylinder side.. 1/8th drill bit..

Have you tried pressure testing the hydraulic line? It sounds like that is just about the only thing left?

how many miles did you put on the clutch?

no i havent... how do i do that? and the clutch has 3k miles on it..

Quit messing with those stock master cylinders and get yourself an adjustable. They are just about needed when using aftermarket clutch setups.

I had the same issues with my wifes car after a clutch install. Hard to get into gear, just hard to shift all around, she couldn't even drive it, and there was no way I could even think about getting aggressive with it. Worked fine before the clutch install. Nothing I did fixed it until I went for an adjustable master cylinder.

It has been very nice since. You can set the free play you are comfortable with. It's something GM should have put on the car to begin with.

well on top of all this clutch issue crap now my rear main seal is leaking.... so now im just going to install a complete ls7 clutch kit in it, and get rid of the pos spec clutch.. that thing is worthless imo.. then off to get a tune.. i hope.
