I live in Newport RI right now, I'm originally from New Bedford, MA. I was born and raised there, I moved to Newport 5 years ago.

I love Newport, it's a beautiful little town right on the water, with little crime, great beaches and scenic areas, and lots of cute college chicks. Cons are that it's a little snobby, and being a tourist town it gets expensive, especially in the summer.

New Bedford isn't horrible, but it's nothing special. Just a working class town with horrible roads and a giant Portuguese population (nothing wrong with that btw), and too much crime. There's something of a gang problem, and there's frequent shootings in certain neighborhoods. Not much too look at, and not much to do.
