LS1 block
My buddy has a 98 TA that we just ordered up an ATI procharger. In the future next winter its gonna get a rebuild.
So my question is what is the best Block to build? LS1, LS2, LS6 or what ever.
Its gonna get strocked.
And what is th HP rating before the stock con rods break? I hear that is the rod bolts. that are breaking. right
Any info helpfull
Thanks in advance

crank is good up to 800........
stock block , pistons, and internals.........500rwhp
there is no set numbers but this is widely believed to be around the limits and is used as a guideline.

The iron block is probably the strongest. The LS1 is stronger than the LS6. The 98s came factory with the LS1 block.

It has been argued that the changes to the block to enhance bay to bay breathing on the LS6 might actually have reduced the structural strength of the block itself and that the LS1 might be a technically stronger block. Not by me, I just read about it.
That aside, I think most cases of block damage on an LSx engine aren't due to pure overpowering of the structural integrity, usually this happens due to failure of other parts and lack of wisdom. (i.e severe detonation due to lean condition under load, fuel supply failure, rod failure, incorrect parts, incorrect installation, etc.)
In regards to the question, I believe the LS2 block is stronger than the LS1/LS6 block in the information I've read.

I somewhat agree with you but the aluminum block does have a limit to where you can take it. Iv read some articles by some promenent engine builders that suggest to keep it below 550hp on the LS1 or go with an Iron block.
