2016 Camaro SS - Summit- 2001 Trans Am WS6 - NBM
Found floor and new pics of Dutch
Over the weekend, me and wifey decided to tear up the old crappy carpet and put in the new stuff we've had sitting in the shed for a month. To our surprise, there was perfectly awesome thick hardwood flooring underneath
We came to an almost instant agreement to not cover up this beautiful original flooring with carpet again. We felt it was a mistake the first time (ugly sky blue carpet over wood floor, are you kidding???). It was sickening to see all the staples for the mats and the nails for the tack boards, but we pulled them all out one by one. The floor isn't perfect, but it's a Sears Tower worth of stairsteps better than what it was, and in our opinion better than any carpet. Here are some pics.
Oh, and Dutch is our dog. He loved the new floor so he's in every pic
and I got lazy and decided to lay with him

This is just the beginning of a host of things we have planned and/or have to do to the house. It's a work in progress

great looking floor. looks like old growth wood as well. we had the same thing. old carpet and when we tore it up we found old growth oak from when the house was built some 70 or 80 years ago. we sanded it, lacquered it, and never looked back.

Not worth the pics...it was terrible looking anyway, but there was a reason we picked this weekend to do the carpet, thanks to Dutch getting sick last week...we'll leave it at that. And no, she understands the bond between a man and his dog

Yes he is. He should still be right around 165, though his eating habits of late might suggest a little more, maybe 170.
Thanks, yeah I'm a huge fan of wood floors, so it was pretty exciting for me. I would have settled with wood laminate even
This floor definately came with the house originally. Not sure what kind it is, probably oak is what grows the most around here, and I'm sure at the time the house was built, most materials came locally. And we fully plan on sanding it and putting down some lacquer
Yeah, well... we got wall problems in other rooms to deal with first...like our bedroom...it had 4 layers of wallpaper....every layer looked like an old lady's moo moo exploded onto the walls...and there were holes in the sheetrock underneath...so we have work to do in there first. We're fine with the living room walls for now, they're intact so that's all that matters at the moment.
Actually, the room was totally dark, so I had no idea when she was taking the pics until the preflash, so some pretty awkward pics of me were taken. I was so tired, my eyes were probably half shut in every pic too.

Depends on what else we need to do. I think wifey is wanting to finish painting the kitchen first.
