Help w\sepertine belt
This is my first problem with my ls1, my belt is walking off the top pulleys. My question is where or how do I adjust the tensin on the belt so that I can put it back in the grooves? Took my a while to figure it out on my 94 SHO, so any quick help would be appreciated.
I fixed please disregard, would delete if I couldLast edited by 1972_Z-28; 02-22-2009 at 02:01 PM.

you don't adjust the tension. the belt tensioner is spring loaded. it is on the right side bolted to the water pump.

Was able to get belt back with car running by guiding it back into the groove with my hand in a towel wasn't hard at all, I will keep an eye it. just had alternator replaced about 1k miles ago, I guess they should have replaced belt also. The belt seems to be tight but i guess the best thing would be to replace both items. i really should go buy a service manual. Any better than others?

I had that problem. Bought me a Katech solid tensioner(non spring loaded) and it works like a charm. Thats what I recommend.

Really simple to install. Just make sure you sent the torque right on the pulley. Thats kind of crucial. Even though I didnt, but I have had some stupid games at work for.... "guess the torque" ... where you try and turn a bolt to hit certain TQ amounts. I got decent at it. Mine has worked for 7000 miles so I say its a great piece.... and my torque was pretty dang close.

I will buy or borrow a torque wrench since it appears I will be doing the front wheel hubs soon.
