Speaker mod...
ok..for those of you who have wondered behind the speaker covers in the hatches of our cars..you will find that the rear speakers are exceptionally small...so, a simple mod that i did was to remove them, cut out a space for a bigger speaker magnet, and dropped in some 6x9's...i don't have pics yet because the spaeker system is still under construction..but just figured i'd share this little mod with my fellow F-body owners in case this has ever crossed your mind...i'll post up pics as soon as i get the system done...hopefully it will be soon!!

I think there's alot of things you can do to modify your factory speaker sizes..i just don't understand why the made them so small to begin with...

My life is a- Ben Stiller movie.
I did 4x8's in the batmobile fearing the 6x9's would touch the wheel well.

Your covers are much bigger than those of my vert if you can fit a 6 x 8 in it.

Psycho Therapist- I take "the" out of
I put 6x9's in my last camaro. It sucked, because the speakers were to deep and the magnet kept hitting the wheel well. I could have cut the carpet to give it a little more room, but didn't really want to mess up the carpet. Although the speaker fit, and I could put the cover back on, the driverside panel still bulged and never sat right.

i am noticing now that 6x9's are a bit too large..like the other members said, so i simply downsized to 4x6's...althought 6.5's is a good route to go also...haven't made a final decision yet but it will be between the 4x6's and the 6.5's...

6.5 is normally what you're supposed to install there.

I used to do alot of custom stereos and a 6.5" is a good bet. Round speakers sound better that's why subs are round. Components offer the best sound quality also.

On mine all I can do is round, the verts are different. Also, I don't have 2 subs in the back like you t-tops and coupes. Just 4 6.5's and 2 tweeters in the front.
Also, can't you just install a spacer to get 6x9's to fit?

I have Memphis 6.5's in my Trailblazer and the sound quality is good for the price also Infinity speakers are usually good. I used there 6.5" reference series in my Grand Am that I used to have and it sounded great.

I've got Pioneer D Series 6.5 components installed in the front 2 just a month ago, the clarity is amazing compared to stock. Wish I could put a second pair in the rear, but the vert rear speakers can't have more than 2 in. in depth, had to go with A Series in the back. Do you coupe/t-top guys have any mounting depth issues with the rear speakers like mine?
