Well your right to a small degree but I would much rather have the most "insurance" I can up front than having to pay more for it on the back end. Perhaps your more of a gambler and are willing to cut those corners but dude that ain't me! In my experience what always happens is you finally pay for it one way or the other. I am sure your mama told ya...."pay me now or pay me later but you ARE gonna pay me"!

Phantom Black Metalic- 2005 GTO
lol actually my momma never said that but my trans guy has ..I may have cut some corners but for the most part ive been driving my car while you pay the man to work on yours...personally its been fun to take a stock ls2 and make it run 10s for the past few years on pump gas,not every guy or gal on this board has the endless bank account you would need for them .to each his own,I was not knocking your build its def.bad azz..overkill yes, bulletproof nothin is ...I am not in any way jealous..you have a vette, they are lighter again each his own,so what you doing for the trans cause thats the weak spot
mods: custom built twins, built 408 w/l92 stock GM heads,GM matching intake, drag bags, frame ties, aluminum drive shaft, performabuilt 4l80e,Yank converter, ohios fastest and quickest 04-06 GTO 9.52 at 144mph. 1.50 60ft on stock rear end and shafts/suspension,on drag radials.

Actually I drove a 427 forged bottom end for three years and never one single problem and yes I ran in the low tens as well. I made sure everything was done right the first time and now.....I am selling the motor for a premium price BECAUSE it was made well with quality parts and the next guy wants to pay for the same security!
No one has an endless bank account and there is abosolutly nothing on this build that is "overkill" as you call it. What is on this build is EXPERIENCE and lessons learned from many different folks.
As for the tranny as the weak spot..not for me....a stage V RPM tranny....and before you ask...a stage V RPM differential as well. This you may also consider overkill but with a little experience you will learn that the entire drivetrain must be improved when dealing with large power. This is my last build and I plan to enjoy it for a long time. Again, lets see who last the longest and makes the most power. Oh and by the way.....if your running ten second runs with a STOCK LS2 as you say above.........well you must have a one of a kind LS2 on the planet! Please share your secret with all of us!Last edited by GORILLAVETTE; 12-07-2008 at 03:57 PM.

dude love this build, can't wait to see a nice burnout video and a dyno video.
San Diego is awesome for cruising around, especially out in the desert area or leaving san diego, there are some really good twisties and nice long roads. I love going down by tecate mexico in the mountains. Lots of spirited driving around here, oh and the weather like you said, perfect. I got tons of room.

Absolutely beautiful setup. Subscribed to see future pics, and videos when she's on the road again.
This just gives me that much more motivation to finish my other two degrees to make that dollar and build something up myself..
I get more and more power hungry every time I see those twins
