Sway bar = worth it.
STB = not so much.
I am sitting here...trying to think how the suspension would deflect without the STB. And I can't.
Not after seeing it all out of the uni-body.
Unless of course...somehow...you got to the point of bending that.
First mods...on a bone stock car would be...
Airbox lid.
Catback (I prefer Magnaflow)
Subframe connectors (which ones depend on future plans)
After that...it depends on what you want out of the car. Power, handling?

Replacing the pipes from the crushed skinny stock stuff to mandrel bent 3" piping will increase power more than just replacing the muffler.

wow this whole stb thing got blown out of the water. you throw out your OPINION to a new member who asked for it and it seems like you get raked across the coals. Maybe I am taking it the wrong way, I never implied that I know more than anyone else or that you guys who road race dont know what you are talking about. I dont have and scientific data to back up my OPINION but to me the stb was worth it, I did feel a bit of a difference in the way the car felt. Maybe mine had an existing problem that the stb fixed. But as I said for the 65 bones it was worth it to me. besides I like installing my own mods, and lets face it a stb doesent get much easier. now if I may ask for some ones OPINION which is the best lid for a 99 my slp doesent fit worth a damn. thanks again guys and I hope in the future I dont offend anyone else

It's all good here, brother. And I agree with you that for $65 the STB is a pretty affordable upgrade that nets a small improvement in rigidity. But on a budget - or just starting out - performance upgrades are better suited to the engine output. On a side note, a $10-15 short shifter upgrade on an M6 is pretty good too.
My SLP lid actually rubs on the SS hood. It's pretty common. I replaced the K&N with an AMSOIL Ea filter. It is a TIGHT fit in the airbox. The fit of the lid isn't perfect, but completely sealed and appropriate. I've heard good things about the WHISPER lid, but I'm good with what I have.

Black as black can be- 2001 Trans Am WS6
12's not much a problem
I just got my first LS1 car about 4 months ago its a 2001 WS6 with 112,000k miles....it was totally stock and sounded terrible exhaust was hanging and all, well its a 6spd, and came with 3:42 gears and alum driveshaft, I bought a SLP air lid and mac filter, msd spark plug wires, and had the stock muffler replaced with a hooker aerochamber muffler...well I was nervous about running it because I had bet some people I was going to run 13.5 or better and I went 13.08 on my very first pass...then my 3rd gear went out after 1st run, so there you have it if it makes you feel better...now my tranny and clutch are out and I took my exhaust manifolds off...it was stock clutch still in it...the car was babied...I have heard the 01 and 02 WS6 ran a little faster than most, but people on here say different, they say the regular T/A is faster, but mine went 13.08 on 1 run, im sure I woulda got 12.80s or 90's if tranny didnt go out on me...LS1's are very unpredictable, you wont run worse than 13.6 stock if you can drive it....
