Head and Cam Package for a 402 Stroker
I have the SLP 402 Stroker in my camaro. I have the g5x3 cam and LS6 heads. Well I think its time for better heads and cam. I was looking at the SLP head and cam package that promises 600hp. Anyone know anything better that that??

You may want to stick with SLP componentes, everything might work better toghther that way, or you could call comp cams for a cam then see what they suggest as far as heads go, It also looks like Sarge has a 402 and he knows eveything

What is your budget? Are your LS6 heads ported at all? Patriot heads are your best bang for the $$$ (sarge will tell ya). And though there are a lot of cams out there, I thought G5x3 was a pretty good one.
Then again, maybe there is room for improvement when you have 402 cubes instead of 346.Hammer - hammertime.us

Budget is not an issue. I dont really trust Patriot heads because 4 of my buddies had them. They all had problems with them. Thats why I am going with AFR. My LS6 heads are 100% stock. So I am trying to find who ports the best AFR heads.

Patriot Heads hands down.....don't care about your buddies.....I really struggle with that....I have 4 buddys...all 4 bought installed Patriot Heads....all 4 had bad problems....hell it is statistically impossible.....oh well....get the heads you want of course.....whichever brand....I have seen Patriot warranty heads for folks when they did not have to....they stand behind their products and make them right...high quality and no bullshit...big numbers for the buck...they work with you and your tuner ....I can go on...bottom line is Patriot has a high quality product....best customer support in the business.....and thousands of really happy folks running their heads....
With that said....Buy the heads you want...but in that process (whichever brand you go with) be careful and don't get caught up in the flow numbers...so often folks go out and get the biggest flowing heads they can thinking..."oh goodie I'm gonna haul some ass now"...and find out they don't have shit for bottom end....
Head deck clearance...valve clearance....springs matched to cam lift....work with your head manufacturer/tuner/wrench/cam manufacturer all at the same time to get a consensus on your setup....just recently...a guy with an 05 GTO...bought his cam one place...heads another and did not involve his wrench or tuner.....they had clearance issues out the ass...swapped heads three times...cams twice.....all the while running up a $5000 dollar bill in labor.....I don't blame the wrench/shop for charging for all the labor as they were not consulted nor a part of the decision making process....so now the guy has a $5000 cam install...ouch!!!....So get a consensus that your setup will work/fit and produce the numbers you have targeted.....And Patriot works very well in the collaborative scenario for no extra charge.....it's called customer support....call Gunnar.....at Patriot.....hey the call is free...boy knows his stuff........nuff said....Last edited by Sarge; 02-08-2006 at 05:19 AM.

Damn!!! lol
I might be having a spark issue though as well. Gotta get it back together first to find out. #7 plug comes out looking brand new...with just a hair of use being shown. All other cylinders are showing either rich or lean. Shouldn't be too hard to determine that though. Unless it is a compression problem. Which would SUCK.
But I think I have a bad compression tester. Figures. 4 100% dead cylinders...on a running car?? Doubtful.
Returning that this weekend as well.

Did you roll your injectors and see if the problem follows?

Haven't yet. Shouldn't be them though...but that is something I will try.
First I am going to have that plug follow the coil. See if that is a problem.
