Not a fan of rap but that's mainly cuz I like live music not samples. I've never cared about lyrics of any sort.
FYI: Almost ALL drum parts used in rap have been sampled from Clayton Fillyau. For bonus points: Who did Clayton Fillyau play drums for?

Have to go with 2pac. Notorious is good, as are a few others, Nas sucks in my opinion. Too much time spent on stupid beef raps. 2pac addressed alot of serious issues in his songs and talked about real life. Alot of the guys up there are all about the bling and ho's but never really lived the life of a thug rapper like pac.
Nor do some of them have the longevity of pac, hell he's dead (not really) and he's still got enough unheard songs recorded to make a lot more cd's. These other fakes have a hard time making 1 cd in 3 years.
