couple upgrade questions.
i am going to put in a high stall converter in my car and was wondering if the car needs to be tuned. i am probly getting a TCI 3500 and a trans go shift kit. is there a wright up on how to pull the tranny to put conv. in? how hard is the shift kit to install? what cooler should i get for the car? and will i need a tune for all this or will i be fine without one?

I would say yes. I have a M6 and can't tell u from personal experiance but i've seen a few threads on here with peoples cars kind of jerking after they put in a big stall. A tune will always do you good. im sure you could drive without it but If i were doing it id get a tune.

needs a tune..you will be bouncing off the rev limiter and also tq managment needs to be dialed down/removed ..so yes you need a tune..and as big of a cooler as you can get/want.

You won't need a tune for the shift kit and it's not too hard to install if you have basic mechanical skills, just follow the instructions. If you can wait till Monday I can send you the service manual instructions on how to remove the transmission to install the new torque converter, it's not too hard but somewhat time consuming if you don't have a lift or air tools. Took me 3 nights after work with hand tools and jack stands to remove the tranny in my garage. As far as a tranny cooler you can pick up one from your local parts store, they're nothing special, I have a 6"x12" on my car. You will need a tune for a higher stall torque converter. Good luck with it all.

think i could do it in a weekend? how long will it take to do the shift kit? was thinking of doing that in the morning during the week so i didnt half to on the weekend when i do the converter. that would be great if you could send me the instructions on how to pull tranny. i was just thinking of having a shop do it since i couldnt find how to pull the tranny.

If you have tools and some mechanical skills it is definitley doeable in a weekend, like I said I did it in 3 nights (8 hours) on jackstands with hand tools in my garage. The shift kit to me was a little harder and I had a transmission buddy help me, with him it took 45 minutes. The shift kit has instructions and requires dropping the valve body, at the time I wasn't comfortable to do it on my own. So if it's your first one I'd ask somebody to help you and show you how. Good luck with installng the torque converter, if you have any questions on the install feel free to ask.

i dont know if you bought a converter yet but i would strongly suggest a yank ss3600 i have a tci and it's slowing me down. as far as to break the bolts free, a big flat head screw driver to hold flywheel and put the wrench on the bolt and hit it with your hand or a second wrench for leverage and it should come right out
