Pewter metallic- 2000 Camaro SS
People get sick or hurt so they go to the doctor. The doctor takes a bunch of your money and bills your insurance. He writes you a prescription or calls one in for the drugs he wants you to take for your ailments. You then bring in the doctor written prescription or go into the pharmacy he called into and you relinquish more of your money and your insurance gets billed again and you go home with something to make you feel better. The doctor and pharmacist secretly are laughing behind your back because they just took a shit load of your money and they will be leaving work at 2 to go play golf while you go home to get better so you can go back to work the next day. In between filling prescriptions, the pharmacist always takes his 23 year old hottie in the back and convinces her its easier to get ahead by using her body instead of her mind.

Lets be a little realistic here. Don't take it the wrong way if I offend you in some way.
Ok, you been out of high school for couple of years and still haven't applied to any college. Doesn't sound like you are too motivated to continue your education. Now if you are serious about going to school and starting your career, then I would suggest Radiographic School. Go to any Community College and start building credits. Take Comp and Lit I and II, take Anat and Phys I and II, Math, Social Science, and other small stuff. The more classes you take the better.
Here is what my school requires:
Core Requirements .,.,.,.,.,.,.,.,.,.,., Credit Hours
ENG 101, 102 Comp & Lit I & II.,.,.,.6
College Algebra.,.,.,.,.,.,.,.,..,.,.,.,.,.3
BIOL 121, 123 Anatomy and
Physiology I & II *.,.,.,.,.,.,.,.,.,.,.,.,8
PSYCH 101 General Psych..,.,.,.,..,.,3
Humanities or Social Science.,.,.,.,.,3
PEH 116A First Aid/CPR.,.,.,.,.,.,.,.,,1
Phys. Ed. (1 sport).,.,.,.,.,.,.,.,.,.,.,1
Total 25
Ones you get that out of your way, which should take you less than two years to archive, then apply to an Xray School. Xray school is TWO years. Some Xray school don't require College credits, but in the long run, it will pay off. With out college you will get a Xray Certificate, but if you have college credits, you can have a Radiologic Technology A.A.S. Degree. (Associate in Applied Science Degree).
Now here is a bit of a Draw back for you since you live in FL.
Here in NY, its a good paying Job. Here at my work new Xray Tech's start of at $45,000 a year. Other Places even more.
I found a Chart that breaks down the hourly salary by some states, as you can see, they pay a lot more in NY than other states:

Average of $16.35 in FL vs. $24.68 here in NY. (The cost of living is higher in NY.)
After you graduate, you can make even more money. My father for example, he been doing Xrays for 12 years now. for the last 3 years he has become a Cat Scan Tech. (he was trained at work) He is now making around $43 an hour. He also does Xray at a private clinic one a week for 8 hours that pays him $400 for one day.
There are also, Radiation Therapy, MRI, Interventional Radiology, that pay good money, but you have to start off with the Xray license.
Any more Questions Feel free to ask.Last edited by FSANE; 05-28-2008 at 09:39 PM.

The answer depends on what motivates you. It seems like money is the big motivator with most of the careers listed so far, and that's fine with me - if that is what YOU want.
Personally, I like a little satisfaction. Knowing that what I do makes a difference, even if only by a small margin. I bust my ass to make $80K a year, and that's small peanuts compared to what a lot of people make, but my kids respect me for what I do and that can't be reduced to a monetary amount.
I'm in training this week preparing for situations that none of us want to see happen, but we've got to be ready to deal with. Lots of that isn't ever considered unless you're in my profession, and I find it satisfying to know that I'm doing my part to help others when they really need it. I know that sounds cheesey, but I'm being honest.
Twenty-two years as a cop, so this is my career choice and I don't regret it. I think I would have been happy to finish out a career in the military too. Once again, that isn't motivated by great pay, but I'll be damned if I'll shortchange those who sacrifice more money in lieu of honor.
Now I gotta get back to training.

Law Enforcement. Doesn't really matter where, local, county, state, federal agencies. Good pay, great benefits, excellent retirement plans. Oh, by the way, you won't find more job security in any other field. Totally unaffected by the economy or any other factor for that matter.
Black 02 Trans Am WS6 M6 SLP Lid, Bassani Stainless Headers & Y-Pipe w/o Cats, Borla Exhaust, BMR-STB, LCAs & Reloc. Brackets, Panhard Bar, & SFCs, Eibach Pro-kit With Bilsteins, BF Goodrich G Force KDWs, Optima Yellow Top, 5% Tint, Blackouts, Clear Side Lights, H-7 Headlights much more to come!

Some pharmacists do still compound prescriptions but it's not as common any longer, all pharmacists are tained on how to do it. They also provide basic consults relating to drug interactions and some other subject areas. They can also provide some very basic medical services, such as providing flu shots.
There are different options for pharmacists including working in insurance, retail, hospital setting and pharmaceutical companies. It can be more interesting then it sounds but definately not for every one.

Whatever "field" it is, if the target demographic is baby boomers and the field has a "green", and "quality of life" marketing pitch, and can in some way shape or for be at least partially subsidized through insurance, it is going to be a winner for the next 20-30 years...
