    Short Shifter

Ok, I recently bought my 01 T/A. I love the car, but the shift I don't really like. The 'Skip Shift' drives me nuts when I am in traffic and I know I can't avoid it. The shift itself just seems a little more play than I like. I know some people here have converted to a short shifter. Did it really make a difference? Is it worth the investment? What brand did you go with? Thanks in advance.

B&M Ripper and i love it. Feels like a gated shifter with positive engagement in each gear (if you set the stops correctly). You can either have your skip shift programed out like i did or SLP sells a kit to eliminate it for you. Good luck

It's well worth the money if you tend to drive a lot. The !CAGS is a must. Do a search and there's way to do it for next to nothing with some resistors. I actually have a B&M Ripper if you're interested, shoot me a PM.

Yes, I drive the crap out of mine, it is my daily driver. Thus the frustration for the shifter. I was looking at ebay at some of the shifters listed. May I ask, If I turn off the skip shift stuff, will I get idiot light problems? I think I might wait to do that part until I get my long tube headers, so I only have to have the computer programmed once. I didn't realize it would be that easy. Thanks.

You can install a SLP skip shift eliminator for around 30 bucks with no idiot light problems. The skip shift light will still come on when applicable, but you may shift to ANY gear you like. http://store.summitracing.com/partde...part=sle-21008
