anyone repalce there stock cme muffler?
Ok so for 3yrs now ive been running a electric cutout and its never been closed but maybe 5 times and for only a few min in 3yrs. I have Stainlessworks longtubes and a stainlessworks ory with no cats and the stock cme catback with the stock muffler. The car is way way way to quiet when it is running through the muffler, but we all know it sounds bad as hell when its open.. My cutout is in the rear under the rear passenger seat spot and when i close the exhaust the car is SO MUCH faster! ! ! !.....But i want that sound, the stock muffler with the headers is quieter than a frgular fbody with just a catback, so.... i wanna know did anyone replace the stock cme muffler OR what muffler are you running with your cme?
Also anyone else notice their car running a little slower with open exhaust, i alos might mention i have 4:10's if that means anything to anyone.
all input will be helpful

I have pretty much the same setup as you, and I don't mind the cme muffler. I like using the muffler because with the cutout mine is way to raspy. Aslo low end power seenway better with the cut out closed

I actually like the stock CME muffler on mine. With long tube headers and no cats its still pretty quiet and very tolerable when we have the top down. One of the members here has an 11 second ride with videos of it everywhere it seems. He installed the CME muffler on his car to actually quiet it down from the previous cat back system,,,,,the car didn't slow down however, showing the CME muffler works effectively in the HP department and doesn't have to make noise to do it.
Wife likes it as well. I'd install one on her vert too if I ever get motivated enough. If you decide to take it off SLP,,,,give me a shout, I'll take it off your hands,,,I'm right around the corner from you.

I'm right outside of Harrisburg, in Camp Hill, Pa
**As a side note: when I recently had my SS dyno tuned, with the cutout open, I gained (only) 4 rwhp, but added 15 rwt, all across the curve**

I am just east of Cincinnati,,,a stone throw away from you.
All I would want is the muffler thats fine with me. Just let me know, we can work something out and I'll swing up and take it off your hands. Or,,,,do you ever hit the big cruise inn in Milford on Fridays??? I could meet you there.

I used the SLP CME catback and the a fabricated GMMG catback and turned it into my current CME setup, just because I hated how quiet the SLP muffler was. You can put any muffler in its place that you want.

i was actually looking at gmmg setups last nite preston, i think thats what im going to do, my other chioce was a loudmouth muffler where my cutout is and remove the other slp muffler and straight pipe it, i think i deceided on going with gmmg and keeping the cutout....just incase. What all of the gmmg setup did you buy?, i see the cheapest one is 700 bucks all i really need are the mufflers, the y and the 2 bends i have the cme tails and intermediate pipe

A friend of mine actually pieced the GMMG fabrication together, then he gave it to me after he totaled his car. You need 2 sweet thunders and the 2 ninety degree bends and tips. There is other pieces you need, but if you know a good local exhaust shop, he could probably piece it all together for you without too much trouble.
