no doubt.....back in those days the 3 was still running and I was a huge 3 fan. It used to piss me off like no other because the SOB always won. He was mr nice guy pretty boy and drove real smooth and won a ton of races. Now days since Dale's gone I think Gordon probably has the most pure driving talent out of everyone on the track....he just can't get it together these days and nascar has changed a lot.

Jeff Gordon is not the best driver in Nascar, sorry but he isn't even in the same league as Tony Stewart. Tony has started on the pole in the Indy 500, on the front row twice, then went and ran the Coca Cola 600 that evening. Stewart wins in everything he drives, he won in USAC, open-wheel, stock car racing it doesn't matter. He is just the best. Also all of you talking about Jr, if his dad wasn't who he was then Jr wouldn't be racing today, he just doesn't have the talent.

I wouldn't go that far... Not the best by far-- but I would say top 10 (in todays field of drivers)

Last year he had engine problems, this year he has punk ass bitches wrecking him.. And the week before- He had an easy top 3 finish-- but he took a chance for the win--

And he did it without wrecking the leader-- He got caught on the high line, with no help and ended up like 6th or something like that.

I'm not a Jr nut swinger by any means--- but I do think he is a good driver. Not the best-- but good.

Kyle Petty-- now that is someone who can't do shit-- subtract Petty from his name, and then you have someone not qualified to be driving (currently)

It's not just my opinion...there was a poll of the Nascar drivers last year, saw it on Speed, and they ask who they thought the best driver was and Stewart won. Your man Gordon did come in second though I believe lol. I'm not talking about the best stock car driver, I said best driver, and as a racecar driver he is the best. As for Kyle Petty yes he is a joke lol he should be racin that Warren Wallace kid in those commercials.

before we go any further take a few minutes and read THIS.

My interest back into nascar since dale died has been a long road. I couldn't watch it at all for about 2 years. I'm just getting back into it for the most part. My older brother is still into it and we get together and watch it. He asked who I was going to root for since I was getting back into it and I said Stewart because I just like the guy. He loves to race....period. He spends days off racing. Gotta like the guy. Now here lately I'm liking Kyle Busch because the kid can drive, don't take shit from no one, he'd rather wreck than lose, and people hate him. Sounds like someone else I used to root for. I still pull for Stewart but Busch is definitely getting my attention.
The main difference between stewart and gordon is that gordon is a much smarter driver. I could never root for gordon because I hated that guy with a passion but when you're talking racing in a nascar race I don't think even Stewart is as good as gordon is. Gordon is a very smart and a very smooth driver. You rarely see him beating and banging with people like stewart does. He finesses his way around them.

Lol liked the link...and you make very good points Gordon is smoother and maybe a better stock car driver. I just said as a racecar driver Stewart was better. He drives it all, him and Gordon were both Indiana sprint car boys when they started out (after Gordon moved there to race) and Stewart was a lot more successful then (but Gordon was like 16 and running a full size sprint car. They are both very talented in a racecar no doubt about it. It's nice to have an argument with someone who at least knows what there talkin about. I'm becoming a much bigger Kyle Busch fan, his job is to win races and he does it better then anyone at the moment, that doesn't make him a dickhead like some people say.

I understand that, but who better to know who the best driver is other then the people that he races with every week?? It's like it was a poll of the grandstands at some random race. If you want to find out who the best pitcher in baseball is who would you ask...the people who try to hit off of them.

The "POLL" only means you were the fastest in qualifying. It really doesnt mean a damn thing when the flag drops cause the bullshit stops. Now as for the best driver ....well its simple there really isnt any 1 top driver , because A)they are all good at there jobs or they wouldnt be there. (b)to be #1 you have to win the cup and that changes every year or two, he who holds the cup is #1. Now 1 thing about tony that i like he'll race u like u race him , fuck with him and fuck ur ass up but damn man cut ur hair would ya .

    again its just my opinion

I have a bit of a problem with (A) they are not all good at there jobs. You have enough money, or the right last name (Petty) (Andretti) you can race. Hell Kyle Petty has ZERO talent. And this new Chase thing where they take the top twelve and put them all close again for the last races changes a lot. It's not the season champ really its just whoever got hot at the right time. I mean you can have a 400 point lead then when it starts you have a 5 point lead. Oh and Tony did cut his hair lol.

when did tony Stewart win 13 cup races in one season? sorry i must have been asleep for that season and whats with kyle petty bashing . the Petty's had planned to have their cup team established with Adam by now with kyle long retired. jeez he lost his son at louden maybe driving keeps his mind of it.(plus hes a cheap driver for the king) hes 45 years old, not to many other 45 year old drivers winning races

Once again another quote ONLY about NASCAR....if you would have read the posts you would have seen I said Gordon is maybe better in a stock car. We were discussing the best driver. And real racing happens on dirt...pavement is just for getting there. I also know that Gordon started out running sprint cars in Indiana, but as a all around driver I believe Stewart is better. He can go jump in anything and be fast. Started on the front row at Indy twice. Gordon never runs anything but NASCAR now...Stewart is racing at some dirt track on a Saturday night if he isn't racing in Cup.

JR is a mid level driver at best, thanks to the name and some restrictor plate race wins, or he'd be a nobody.
