I did get a raise. I have been staying late and working a ton. they gave me a raise for working hard. the person who has control of my pay has been encourage by my dad(the owner to adjust pay as he sees fit for the first 3 months and then decide where to keep it after that. so far he has raised it 3 times. the way he was talking today he might be raising it again. I did do 1000 dollars worth of repair work today on afo's. (30 mins minimum for work and i did 11 different repairs) we have a 160 dollar per hour thing. we make tons of money off repairs and they are covered by most insurance. 8 of the repairs were only just new straps and replacing worn joints. nothing too serious, so it didn't take long at all. it's a great job. I absolutely love it. I started making hardly anything just pouring plaster in the basement. now I make custom shoe inserts (harder than it looks and requires tons of knowledge about the foot.), and afo, sfo, kfo, and all other brace's repairs. the repairs are so hard at times. but they don't take too long. I love the job.

I see so your dad owns the company he is the orthotist? Because im having trouble figuring out how you and your girlfriend are doign this when it says you need to Acquire certification from the National Commission on Orthotic and Prosthetic Education (NCOPE) as a fitter. This organization sets professional criteria for new and existing orthotists. You must complete a fitter education lab course for official approval by the NCOPE to become a certified orthotist And also have a bach degree in in this to even do this stuff.
Maybe you can clear it up?

no. she is fitting standard orthotics. non custom ones. they cost a ton. the standard custom fit shoe starts at 200, more if it is over size 11. the body braces cost 500 and up. regular leg braces cost 400 and up. she gets paid so much just because it's not always the most glorious thing. the practitioners that meet the patients and modify the molds are responsible for fitting the prosthetics. if they need help she is to help them though.

Help me figure this out too.
So she was making 11 an hour and is now making 21 an hour...thats 1 dollar less than what you said a prosthetic tech makes.

certified orthotic tech (what I do right now) as soon as I have 100 more hours of in job training in prosthetic tech i can make even more, because the STARTING pay for them is 22dollars an hour here. I am prolly gonna be making less money when I get out of college than I do now, but I will have more security and I won't have to work as laborously.

Hey no one is going to look down on you if your company is owned by your dad. The only reason i have so many questions is because your post seem to move with a funny vibe to it.
So your dad owns the company? He hired your girlfriend? you are going to be a orthotist?

she works under one of the 8 practitioners the company has as an employee. oh. our main practitioner and old owner of the company are pretty high up in the ncope. I am a tech. not a practitioner. officially i work under one of the practitioners as all but 2 of the 12 techs in the place do. I don't deal with getting along with these rules and regulations. jim, carstan, chris, and my dad have to be the ones that figure that out. the main person that is teaching me what I do definitely doesn't have a degree. he is only 21 and has been working there for 2 years. he is great though. he fixed what I messed up on today though. lol. I am still learning and mess up a bunch of inserts. only done 3 sets completely done by me and completely correct. one of those was a set I did for training for myself. be right back with the pics of it.

no. I am not. I am taking night classes right now. I just got my high school diploma. I am gonna be an accountant, but I can just do work there as an accountant or manager. I already do the payrolls on the weekend before they go out and i do income statements every month. I am just doing that as my time working under a cpa so that after I finish my classes I can go take the cpa exam without any problems.
my dad does own the company.

he owns the company but he wasn't the one who hired her. carston interviewed her and out of the people who were trying to get the job there in general he liked her the most. when he found out that she was pregnant he said it didn't matter and she would be great for the job. he didn't know we were dating at the time. I was hired by chris. he knew who I was, but he also knew that I would work hard there and try to do my best in the position. he said to me just yesterday he wished that the person who took my old job there worked as hard as I did. He said he didn't realize how hard I was working to keep up down there.
