Holy Cow.
I want to add my 2 cents-
stopping at a place that is notorious for law breaking activity, but not planning on breaking the law is a bit strange.
That is like knowing that drug dealers deal at a certain corner but you stop their to wait for a friend to get off of work?
I do think the Cop should have assisted you to file something. If someone truly was choked and the cell phone was broken by this crazy guy- something should have been done.
Lets see-- May be a stretch,, but follow along everyone...- but cutting someones airway off is probably the easiest way to kill someone with your bare hands. So one could argue that Murder was his intent, and when he destroyed the main life line you had to call for help, that proves he knew what he was doing was wrong, and didn't want yall to get help nor did he want the cops to learn of his assault.
Not to mention, I am about 99% certain, that if you destroy a phone or hinder someones ability to call 911 for help purposefully that is a SERIOUS offense. Possibly a felony.
People are being pretty harsh on you in my opinion. But I do think there is probably more to the story.
Okay enough with me playing Mat Lock.

ha ha ha ha ha to all of you that think the police isn't Ridiculous in every way.
Hmmm, anyone know that the police will put a tracking device on your car without getting a warrant and that so far the courts have ruled this to be ok?
Yep, they will do whatever they want whenever they want and there is damn near nothing you can do about it.
I got a ticket this year for this.
1. Bought piece of crap Mercury for daily driver.
2. Got temp permit for 30 days.
3. Had to get emissions testing and vin search done in 30 days.
4. Ball joint fell apart car not driveable past the thirty days.
5. Fixed car, tried to get new permit to get inspections done.
6. DMV lady tells me I can't get a new permit, I had 30 days.
7. Drove car in Nevada with no plates and small sticker in window (even though sticker expired, you can't see it from the road) had to go to work
8. Get pulled over by cop even though wasn't speeding and he had no cause to pull me over other than his bosses wanted them to crack down on this.
9. Cop said he would have given me a warning but he couldn't because of his superiors.
10. Go back to DMV and they magically give me a 5 day permit as if it were nothing.
11. Resist urge to choke DMV worker and beat other DMV workers with his lifeless body.
12. Go to court wanting to at least tell the judge what BULLSHIT the whole thing was.
13. NOPE, can't see judge have to pay right there.
The police and the courts and our government are complete and utter garbage and anyone reading this that is involved with or working for the police should either quit or try and change the whole system you are working under.
The whole thing is just a joke and you all know it deep down.
Oh wait, last year the cops here shot a handcuffed and unarmed suspect to death as he was running trying to escape. It might surprise you but that was LEGAL in Nevada. Look it up.

Here is a link to one of many articles about the GPS.
To those who will parrot the part where it says you don't have a right to privacy on a public roadway....Does the @$#$$ GPS stop working if you load your car in a trailer to keep it from other's eyes.
Does it stop working if you park your car in your garage and never drive it again? NO
I think Judge Judy might be the smartest one out there and she is on TV

Why is it that people who seem to bash cops here never seem to have much personal info listed for themselves? Hmmmmm...............
Thanks for calling me garbage, BTW.
If you think I'm gonna quit twenty-two years into it you may as well start puffing on that pipe again, because it ain't gonna happen.
You had thirty days, exceeded it, drove without a plate (which justifies the stop), and you are upset becasue the cop wrote you a ticket? He followed the law, and it amazes me how many people can fix something if they have just a few more days. Thirty days isn't thirty-five, and that was not his fault.
If it was LEGAL for them to shoot that guy, why are YOU complaining? What was he a suspect in? He was escaping and even here in NC under certain circumstances deadly force can be legally used to stop an escape. Not exactly a poster boy to stand behind and support, dude.Last edited by jad628; 05-08-2008 at 04:26 AM.

All are good points, but base the decision soley on what she posted:
She types that the guy was choking her b/f and also threw the cell phone away, breaking it. THEN the police arrived. It's an assumption that the 911 call was already made before the phone was broken OR this isn't true OR there is a more involved explanation needed. This is a point where I have to raise doubts about the sincerity of the content. I also wonder if a 911 call was really made, if it wasn't made by the guy complaining about burnouts and identifying where a violator happened to be. Not saying it happened, but something to consider until it can be eliminated.
Her quote: " well we call the cops and they go down to the guys house becuase we know where he lives becuase we saw him pull out of his driveway". So they followed him AFTER the altercation, or he lives that close? This doesn't sound like a "chance" meeting.
Choking an airway off is serious and, if done correctly but not to the point of oxygen depletion, there should be visible signs of injury. The cop would likely look for this. If he did not see visible signs of injury, he is going to have to base the investigation on other factors, and that starts to lean heavily on the witness testimony. In this case, it would be normal SOP for most cops to leave the warrant issuance to the victim. There aren't any exigent circumstances (one would be that the suspect would likely never be located again if not taken into custody immediately), so there isn't an immediate need to arrest (consider what I posted earlier about that). Her own comments were that he did respond, told them what could be done and the likely punishment that would follow, and then the story ends. This tells me that he offered to go through with an investigation but they chose to drop it. This is what normally happens, I promise you.
She also mentions how her b/f reached for a pipe in the truck and brandished it as a weapon at which time the guy ran off. Well, if we are gonna be all-business about this, the b/f could be charged with CCW...maybe. Personally, I would not, but it seems like the cop is being viewed as avoiding issues so that may have been good for the b/f too......if true.
In short, the story doesn't jive. Just like a lot of stories here that bash the cops.

15. “Cop bashing”
Persistent or purposeful “cop bashing” is not allowed. Referring to a LEO, cop, policeman, etc is appropriate but unproven defamatory remarks or titles will not be tolerated.

Errrr....I agree on the BF not doing squat but on the cooling thing.
Yes the car is designed to cool as it goes faster but that will only do so much, if you have a stuck thermostat (or not getting coolant for other reasons or have bad coolant) even in the middle of winter, you WILL over heat your car while driving. Sometimes you just need to stop, shut it off and let it cool off and if it's under a bridge or in a wide open field will not make any difference.
As far as stopping under a bridge, a lot of times you get a lot more shoulder room under a bridge and it may be the safest spot on the rad to stop. The fact that others may do illegal activities there is not their problem as long as they are stopping for a legit reason.

To add to my statement, I'm not saying the kid is legit but people are trying to bash on her on things that are perfectly logical just to prove that she's lying.
I will admit I have stopped under a bridge before during severe weather and/or car issues because I had the most room there. I will also admit that I have had to shut off a car to let it cool so I could start it back up and limp it home (to be fixed obviously).

Oh yes. The escaping felon. As I recall, the cops were justified on that particular incident...
Anyway, you really have to work at it to get pulled over in Vegas. I generally find that people who are complaining about getting pulled over around here have left a few unimportant details out of their story.

Thanks for the response- I value someone who can actually articulate a well rounded and level headed response.
I guess the bottom line is.. We just don't know enough of the story to know for sure.
PS COP bashing is what is truly "ridiculous"--- I'm a military man myself, and I hate when people bash the entire military when only tiny fraction of 1% commit wrongful acts.
