Well, I feel kinda bad for all 5 of the open wheel fans in the country because they've lost so many drivers to nascar.

the thing NASCAR has over Sports cars is most NASCAR tracks are like giant Stadiums.. So the fans can see almost all the race at all times ... With the IRL and CART getting back together , if they would just have a show or 2 on speed or ESPN 2 where more people could put a face with a car , then they would go up .. One of these days I am gong to catch a IRL race as Nashville

I'm not worried about it. The only races I watch are the Formula One World Championship ones, and they get 55 million live TV viewers for each race.

it just means that F1 is more of a global sport where if you ask anyone from around the world about NASCAR its hard for them to keep a straight face.

The reason they are going over to NASCAR is because there is more money there. im not debating the fact that NASCAR is very popular I just can't stand to watch it thats all. give me a race at Le Mans or and F1 race, but to each his own. P.S. I still think the best entertainment to time ratio is drag. a whole can of whoop ass in 4.5 sec.

Over two hundred. IMO that's more impressive than what NASCAR has accomplished.

I actually preferred nascar before it got popular. I knew when I saw the first celebrity in the pits that the sport was gonna take a turn for the worse. Fox completely wrecked the way nascar is being covered and the other stations followed in their shoes. Nascar itself has taken away from it's own sport by some of the rules and bullshit they've done in the last 15 years.

I see that you are only 19 years old. Thats cool cause you are young. Have you ever raced? Do you know the skill that it takes to go 180+ mph and have people bump you or turn all directions going 200+ mph? If so than ok but if not then you have really no say of the skill that it take to drive these cars. I have done many auto cross races in my old Trans Am and have done the Richard Petty driving experince at the LVMS and they are too very differnent typs of raceing. They both take alot of skill to drive and both very demanding.

Also have you ever thought as to why drivers are all trying to get into NASCAR? Think about it. All racing is great but in my opinion and as much of the country is that NACSAR is true American Raceing.

Braking-- have you ever watched a NASCAR race? The brakes practically glow, especially on a short track.

Downshifting-- Umm Road courses utilize downshifts all the time

    multiple curves- again, road courses.

Dont be so sure CUP has come a long way in just about 20 years ,, Remember in the 80s all of the races wasn't even being televised .. I think NASCAR became this monster after Sped Vision turned into SPEED TV .. Now back when it was SPEED Vision ..those were the days ..

back when ESPN televised almost all the races in the 80s and 90s with bob Jenkins, bp, and Ned Jarret and Larry neuber, before they put the chicane in the back stretch at Watkins glen, before pit road speeds, when bristol sat 16,000 people, when there were 5 short track in the season those were the days ! as soon as fox got a hold or it it was over . just like the NFL broadcasts they turned it into a circus
