Well said!!! People have to understand that. Some people work a full day to earn enough to either buy a DVD or provide for their family. Some opt to let their family suffer and buy a damned DVD of some whore so they can get their jollies. End result:
Family suffers
Individual gets a few minutes of pleasure
Whore and associated pimps get richer
That my friend, is FUBAR.

Since when is keeping government out of private business a liberal idea?
Since when is keeping government out of someone’s bedroom a liberal idea?
I think you are confused on the issue since my statement is as conservative a view of government interference as has been stated in this thread.

How many states in the USA have LEGALIZED prostitution? Okay then, the idea is liberal, not conservative.
How many have same-sex marriages? Okay then, the idea is liberal, not conservative.
I'm not confused at all. I'm also clear on the fact you love to argue and/or debate, especially with me lately.
Don't try that weak "someone's bedroom" excuse. A business that makes money also pays taxes. Since you seem to tout above average knowledge in that area, tell me how many whores and pimps pay taxes on the money they make for tricks? We legalize prostitution and they'll pay what they are legally obligated to pay? I call major BS on that. Hair stylists and waitresses don't even have a good track record for paying taxes on tips, and you think whores would do better?
Please.

FTR- That is not a conservative idea in my opinion, and that is what I countered. Others can view it as they like, but the thread was about Dupre specifically, and no one is going to convince me that she is anything more than a whore looking to get money any way she can and at anyone else's expense. I find that deplorable.

Uh oh, I've checked and seen a certain name at the bottom of this thread for quite some time with no response yet. That must mean copious amounts of research taking place and a whopping novel in the works.
Looks like it'll be Monday before I can read it though!

You still seem to be confused. Status quo does not have the same definition as conservative. You did give a great example of maintaining the status quo however.
You still seem to be confused. There is a difference between being “conservative” in one’s personal life and “conservative” in terms government interference in one’s personal life.
A liberal view of government manifests itself in things like socialized medicine, welfare, etc. These are all things that require big government to step in and run your life for you (another example is preventing someone from being/paying for a prostitute since it is a display of the government knowing what is best for you).
I offered a one line response giving my opinion. It was my only contribution to this thread until you mistakenly called me out as a liberal.
So you will be the first one to allow the government to monitor your bedroom then?
Personal privacy is never a weak excuse and is a fundamental ideal of this country.
Sometimes
I offer advice/knowledge to help out fellow members when I can. That’s the same thing you do in the “I got a ticket, what do I do” threads.
They are already breaking the law to earn the money, why wouldn’t they continue to break the law and not report it.
The tax argument was never my argument. However, they are already legally obligated to pay and should be audited just like everyone else if they are not.
I fail to see how that has anything to do with the fact that it is not the government’s place to legislate a set of morals for us to follow.
Based on your argument, I guess we should make being a waitress and a hair stylist illegal too.

I got to read it before I left. No surprises.
Would you like to continue with your support of oil companies over rising gas prices and how the oil companies aren't ripping us off, but merely running a business? That was really entertaining stuff as well. I'll be happy to go back and make links if you would like, but once again, I feel that Dupre is a whore and motivated by greed. But who am I to go back to the thread subject? Silly me.
And just off the presses:
