Weight reduction
The gto is a porky car. What have yall done to trim some of the weight off? Has anyone removed that skidplate from under the engine?

Yes that was one of the first things I did. As long as you aren't going 30mph up into driveways and 20 over speed bumps I NEVER has any issues.
That spare tire and jack weny out the window too. I have been a long time AAA member and not changing shit on the side of the road......Don't be afraid of the bottle!!! Be afraid of your tune!!!

Not sure on exact weight. I know I lost alot by terminating the huge stock mufflers and the "pre muffler" that is on the 05/06 cars.
My other major weight reduction was throwing the 2 piece driveshaft in the garbage and putting a aluminum 1 piece.

Also take out the tow bar out of the rear of the car, for some reason it is set up to pull a trailer. Unbolt the shroud under the rear of the car and it will unbolt

i tried to do that and i couldnt get it to come off. i had problems with it cause it like was bolted through my trunk by the spare or some shit so i said fuck it. i wish there was a sticky for removal of that shit
i actually hit it on one of those gas station hatchs..i wasnt goin fast. im keeping mine on cause you never know. and if you hit your oil pan or filter off cement goin that fast.. very messy pricy situation01 m6 z28 - lid / lt headers / 3' ory w no cats / flowmaster catback w 3' dmh e-cutout / nelson pcm tune

yeah i actually think they do fro the fact that they put a skid plate there for a reason and that i have indeed used that skid plate before when i didnt think i was gonna hit anything
ahh my bad. sweet. next day above freezing im taking that shit off. thanks man. those bmr skid plates are nice but arent they like 115 bucks or sumtin?

lets see theres a fuel brace i took that out thats about 20 pounds easy. oil pan cover, tow hitch bracket that weighs like 30-40 pounds plus the plastic I have a list of weight reduction on ls1gto.com on the exact weight the cover weighs like 18 pounds
