Married couples with seperate checking accts.?

Is there anybody out there that has a seperate checking acount from there signicant other? Does it work? Pros/cons?

We had our own personal accounts......then set one up for the household & placed a set percentage of our paychecks in it each week.

I have known several couples that do this...Your bank account...Mine and Our account. We been married 21 years, we only have one account (which the wife maintains). But I do get an allowance..ehehehe

I have always thought that having a single account kinda shows dedication to the marriage, or like wise for a seperate acct. My wife says not at all.

works great for us. My wife is horible with money so I pay all the bills. She gives me her share of the bills and I pay them through my checking account. She then gets her own to do what she wants.

Like I said works outstanding for us and I never have to answer what or where my money goes.

I use to when we were first married. I made more money but then combined everything. Now she makes more money than me so it all good.

Been married almost 4 years. If she needs help I help her. No biggy, But I make almost 3 times more than she does. We each get our own spending money to do what ever we want to do with it.

Every year I always let her have her last 2 paychecks of the year to spend on x-mass. So she is happy.

when I said I pay all the bills, I mean all the bills includeing gas, food, entertainment. She gives me most of her paycheck and she keeps 250-300 a month to blow on ? whatever she wants, Most of the time her kids, (My step kids).

I take care of the rest so she doesn't have to worry about anything. haveing 2 checking accounts works really well for us. That way she can not bounce any checks that the bills will be comeing out of.

She is happy with the arrangement, I take care of her kids so she really doesn't care if she has that much spending money or not. I don't have any kids so most of my spare $ goes into my cars.

i agree with your wife, people should have their own money.

Have the same thing here as Jay. Works well. At one time had a joint account. I never saw any of it. wife spent it as fast as it came in. Now we put in based on a percentage. I then get to save for what I want and she can do the same. No arguements about who is spending what on what.

Mama keeps all the money. I dont even know where it all is...dont care....I havent paid a bill in 26+ years.....She gives me $100 every Monday morning for walking around money....and I have a few credit cards....dont know shit about nothing else...I do all the investments and shit...but Mama keeps the books.
