I pulled my M6 trans, pulled the clutch, and this is what I found. This clutch has 120,000mi and is 10yrs old. Is this low wear normal? Do I need to replace it, or reinstall it? I haven't seen a new disc, so I don't know if this is low wear or moderate! Any opinions would be appreciated. Have not had any issues with the clutch, just while I had the tranny pulled, I thought I would check it out. The flywheel also has the ridges still on the face, like the pressure plate does. What do y'all think? Thanks!

I take the pics on my S8Note and don't adjust the settings on it or Flicker.

Looks good to me. If you're worried you might get a depth gauge and see how much material you still have to the the top of the rivets and compare to clutch plate specs.

It's not like you're doing heavy track use.

No, I never take her to the track. Just sporadic bursts every now and then on the street. I just didn't know if the age of 10yrs might cause weak springs on the clutch disc or the diaphragm pressure plate to warrant replacement. Maybe I can take the disc to AutoZone and compare to a new disc.

    What clutch is it?

    LS7 or factory?

And if you do decide to replace the LS7 is pretty much the OEM replacement.

It is the LS7 clutch with the LS2 Flywheel. I have priced the LS7 Clutch at Summit, and they quoted me $284 matching eBay. I also got a quote from Standard Transmission to get the flywheel resurfaced for $30. So, it wouldn't be all that much of an added expense to go back in with all new, but hate spending money uselessly if I don't have to!! I know if I have this much clutch disc material still there after 10yrs and 120,000mi, if I did replace it, it would be the last clutch I would ever have to buy!! I'm not hard on clutches, but wish I wasn't so hard on rings or valve guides! She smokes a little on hard acceleration. But that's another post...

I've been considering getting some of those as my clutch pedal pad has worn to the point that it fell off. I went ahead with a new reproduction for now, since I had a bunch of other trim parts to replace to the tune of $300 that I didn't really want to spend at the moment.

Let us know how they feel under the foot.

What did you do with your Trans Am today?

so far I like them a lot. Better traction over the OEM rubber. Easy to install too, took only 30 minutes.

Gracie decided to throw a tire on I95 pn Tuesday, figured while I was waiting on a new pair of tires, Id replace the PS pump thats been groanong since Carlisle 2017; ended up needing the rack, a tie rod end and rear pads and rotors (somehow got metal to metal).

Anyone ever hear of swaybar mounting holes for the end links getting worn out? Never remember in the 20 years I work in the dealers hearing aboit something like that.

as much as I didn't want too replacing the gear motor in the headlight wasn't as bad as I thought.

Hmm. Only way this might happen is if the nuts were loose.

Or if the bushings were totally shot... my 97 ate a swaybar, actually. I purchased one on here (used) from a member long time ago. It broke off half of the swaybar on both ends where the endlink goes through. Hard to explain, but if you took a saw from the very end of the bar and cut it in half long-way, right through the 'pinched' end where the link mounts, that's how mine was broken.

I tried pulling the Camshaft Position Sensor from the bottom, since I have the tranny, bellhousing, and rear engine cover off. Thought I might be able to lift it high enough to take off the o-ring, and replace it, but it would not lift up high enough, soooo, have to pull the intake, and in the process, might as well replace the OPSU also. Fun times in the big city!!
