    1999 LS1 Oil Pressure

    Hi Guys,

After almost 5 years since I sold my ´99 manual Z28, I have bought another one !!, this time also a 99 but with automatic transmission.

I do not remember of the old one what were the normal values of operation for oil pressure and I have seen that this one operates in low ranges.

During normal driving yesterday (recently bought !!) in highway it was ok, in the middle, oil level was perfect, but when arriving to city and start stopping in the red lights, at idle, the value seems to be very low. I just wanted to be sure that is ok....

This is how it seems with hot engine, sometimes even lower than this…

    Thanks for your help !

The old school rule of thumb is that you need at least 10 psi for every 1,000 rpm. Ours drops down at idle as well, but I honestly do not recall the actual reading since I have not driven it during the past 7 or 8 months.
