Artic White- 00 SS Vert.
Looking to swap to an LS6 manifold
I have a 2000 Camaro LS1, and am thinking about buying a LS6 intake manifold. Which one is the "best buy for the buck" ?
I work at a GM dealership, and can get the LS6 manifold for $463, but it won't be compatible with the 2000 EGR. Can the EGR be deleted without setting a DTC?
Should I buy the SLP LS6 manifold, with all hardware for $499.95?
What do you guys suggest?JIGGER RACIN'

I bought this one from SLP. It comes with all seals and gaskets as well as the coolant bypass relocation tubes.

I had my EGR programmed out and removed it. It will set a code if you remove it and not program it out. I also programmed off the CAGS, rear O2s, AIR, and a few other enhancements.http://www.fquick.com/mnypitZ

Deleting the EGR will throw codes, require a block off plate for the passenger side header - but not a big deal to get them turned off. If you want to keep EGR or need it for inspection SLP sells one w/EGR provisions. $463 is the best you can do with an employee discount?

I was thinking the same thing, because I think GM parts direct sells them for like $445. Of course then theres shipping, but I would think an employee should be able to get that price.
SLP does sell the intake with Provisions, but I personally found it cheaper to get the EGR block off plates and program out the code. I paid a buddy to program it.

Just looked up PN 88894339 at gmpartsdirect - says GM list is $753 (ouch) and their price $446, but have to pay S&H.

they are always selling on ebay around $300-350. When i did mine i ripped out the egr and used block off plates. Cleans up the engine bay a little and sheds a few pounds! Plus the egr tube disrupts the airflow going into the manifold.

what kind of gains do you get from deleting the egr?

No gain. Just looks prettier. Maybe a little weight loss, but negligable at best.

i got them from a local performance shop for like $3. All you do is take the plate and put it over the top of the tube that the egr was connected to. It should take you about 10 minutes to rip off all the egr crap - then 30 seconds to put on the block off plate.
Gains - like mnypitZ said - it looks better and you drop like a few lbs - less than 5 if i remember so not much. But if you take off you throttle body and look into your intake manifold you will see where the egr hangs down inside. By ripping out the egr it is no longer in the way of incoming air. So there will be less restriction of the air entering the engine. Might be worth a fraction of a hp.

I bought my LS6 intake brand new on a different forum for $370 shipped. It came with all the neccessary stuff like Gaskets, Sensors etc. Just look around on the for sale sections. There isn't any reason why you would need a new one. You can find one for $325 all day on these Camaro forums. Ditch the AIR/EGR and get the codes deleted and holes blocked off w/ plates. Stay away from SLP's (Super Looser People) version.

Is the BBK any good?

Ok here's a thought.
Since there aren't any tuners up here in Maine to reprogram the PCM. Meaning, I need to keep the EGR plugged in, to prevent setting a DTC.
How about going with the GM Parts Direct intake for $446, and deleting the EGR tube at the EGR, by plugging /welding the hole. I could keep the EGR bolted to the bracket, and plugged in, working the way the PCM tells it to.
Has anyone done/tried this? Why wouldn't it work?
I know the EGR valve will still be there sticking out like a sore thumb, but it is a factory piece.

this is one of the cheapest options.
I personally just have the light on - doesn't bug me at all.

You might be able to find a used handheld to delete the egr codes along with the o2 and a.i.r codes. I know the predator version 2.1 and up does...i'm not sure about the others though. If you look hard enough you might be able to find one for around $250..
