Tires won't squeal anymore
When I first bought my 98 TA the tires would squeal on a hard takeoff, in drive or in 1st, but now all they do is spin and try to turn the car sideways.
Whats going on?

Traction Control
Do you have a traction control system? If so then my guess is that when it would squeel traction control was on. Now that it spins and turns the car sideways it would be my best bet that traction control is off. Good luck with figuring that out.

Midnight Blue- 99' Trans Am
My 99 TA hardly makes any noise when they spin. Tires are the main part. The good sticky tires will grip and squeal, but they wear down faster.

They would squeal with the traction off. I turn it off everytime I start the car. The traction control feels like it bogs and cuts the power.

The only reason I am glad I have t/c is in the rain, other than that I turn the crap off, my tires do the same thing though they don't squel anymore, the only reason I like it is the cops can't here you. lol

Usually when im in the car I cant really hear the tires over the duals.... I never noticed if the tires squeeled or not. I know in my v6 when I spin the tires they've never made a sound, even when they were brand new.

Its the tires man. When they wear down to a certain point, the rubber compound is a bit different/harder on the tread. Thats why they don't squeal. My tires don't squeal either but it attracts less attention. The other day I came out of a left turn doing about 45mph and was pretty much completely sideways. There was a cop standing outside of his car with his back to me about 200ft away. If my tires would have squealed I would have been done for, but I quickly straightened out the rear-end and passed the cop like nothing happened.
