Alternator Wiring Issue!!
Ok, car is an '02 WS6 A4....alternator crapped out, so I got a new one and put it on....The connector originally had (4) wires going into it, well the wires broke, buddy of mine said I only needed one, so he put the one back in, drove the car yesterday, battery was not showing charging, check gauges light stays on, and my dash shut down, no speedometer, oil pressure, etc. I made it home, and battery acted like it was dead, so I'm assuming the battery is not charging. Now, I've heard different people say, all wires have to be put back in the connector, and some say just 1, so which is it??? I got a new connector today and want to get this problem resolved, but want to get it done right this time. Also, if all the wires need to go back in, what is the order? I've looked and can't find a diagram.....any help would be appreciated!

so although it is a 4-pin connector, there is only one wire needed? What were the other wires that were running to it for?

Probably for any gauges the car came with. Remember, even though yours is an 02, the fourth gen f-bodies ran from 1993 with the LT-1 or LT-4 if you had a 30th Anniversary Camaro SS. I think that was 1997. I could be wrong, however.
extreme dimensions, driveshaft shop, harrop, hid(35watt/6k) lows, hurst, k&n, led fogs, maverick man, mishimoto, nitto, revshift, slp, stern st-1, smoked sidemarkers, whiteline poly radius rod bushings

Ok, the four wire connector should have a red wire in the "B" terminal. That is your generator turn on signal wire. None of the other wires, "A", "C" or "D", are utilized. Only other connection is the heavier gauge red wire which is your generator output on the "Batt" terminal.
