Car keeps cutting out (Not VATS)

I've done this bypass and it worked great, I've got an 02 trans am , I was driving it home today and it cut off ,pulled over and it just turns over but doesn't fire up. No code is on no check engine light. Thought maybe my resistors came out but its fine, the security light isn't on and if I take it out it doesn't do nothing so I ruled that out. Could this be a crank sensor or can sensor? I'm pulling my hair out here. The car only has 53000 miles on it and very well taking care of, need some help on this

Engine needs fuel, air and spark. Start with the basics -- does it have fuel pressure at the rail?

Yes plenty of fuel , fuel rail is pressurized ,air is good but no spark, I disconnected the battery to reset the system and the car fired up and ran for a min then cut off, then it just turns over but doesn't fire up, weird .

VATS shouldn't shut the car down after it is running like that. You can undo your bypass and just try it (unless the system was having an issue and you had to bypass it). Any recent work done to the car?

I had to bypass the vats due to a broken wire on the key cylinder, no work has been done to the car, its bone stock,

A bad sensor will generally trip the SES. I take it you can hear the fuel pump engage when you energize the ignition? You have checked fuses? Swapped relays around for any of the critical engine systems? Eyeballed the underhood wiring and sensor connections?

Yes I can hear the fuel pump, checked the fuse panel in the car but not the relays or fuse under the hood, checked most of the connection and all seems good, no loose connection or frayed wires. I'll swap around relays tomorrow and get back with u .

Just got home, turned the key car fired up ran for 2-3 mins shut off now just turns over. So i checked all fuses ,swapped relays and still nothing, so for giggles I plugged in my obdll tester and p0335 comes up , no light is on but code reads, now I called GM and they said that the sensor can or crank wouldn't make it not start just run crappy. Going to pull a plug when wife gets here and c for sure if its not sparking . any thoughts

Crank sensor is on the passenger side of the block above the starter. If it is throwing a code something isn't happy there. I would have to check my manual to see what the symptoms are -- certainly intermittent by what you are experiencing. Stock manifolds or headers?

    Good point.

Ed - wire insulation tends to get melted and things short out around long tubes if things are not properly routed and tied off. That is why I asked... If you are working on the car this weekend, I can grab my books and we can walk through some pinpoint testing perhaps...

I'll be out in the garage later and will check in from time to time today if you want to run over some stuff in the service manual as far as pinpoint diagnostics. Is your email address in your profile valid?

Sounded like an intermittent failure of the crank sensor. (in Homer Simpson voice) Stupid crank sensor!!! Glad to hear you got her running again.
