    Y Pipe vs. X pipe

Just curious on everbody's thoughts on the two. I just want to get my exhaust. I currently have the ls extreme headers and after talking to Justin he mentioned that only their Y fits right on with their headers. They currently have a complete system that dumps before the axle, but I want to run it completely out. He mentioned that their system is tuned and all that so I am not sure of all the issues with just extending there system all the way out the back.

I'm not keen to the specifics of all the technicals of all of this, but I just wanna get er done.

My motor is completely stock for the moment. Probally move up to some ls6 heads and a cam eventually but for now I am stock

Benefits of either or set up would be appreciated...

x is more air (which means more hp) and it will sound nicer....running it over the axel on a trans am is the only way to go, no way you should dump it IMO

a stock motor won't see any noticeable gain from a true dual set up over a ORY. get the ORY it will be cheaper and if you upgrade your motor later you can buy some true duals and sell your ORY on eBay. everybody wins

@ stock the only real difference between a X or Y is the sound.(X sounds way better imo) You may get a a couple hp gain with the X but even that's debatable. If you plan on messing with internals later on then get the X and have a shop fabricate pipes for u that'll run out the back(or dig around the interwebs and find a system for sale) and call it a day.

i dont think its debatable that you will increase hp with an x compared to a y....instead of having air come from 2 into 1 and back out to 2 you have air coming from 2 into 2 and out of 2......that means more air flow which means more hp/tq......now how much of an increase can be debated but that all depends on what else is done to the car, the more mods the more you gain from the x.....
