    oil pump and timing chain ,,,,cam swap

    question ,i gonna do the cam swap in my 99 camaro pretty soon as soon as i can find someone to do it with out takin me to the cleaners ,i bought the tsp magic stick m4 kit , now i know its a must to change to a high volume oil pump and timing chain, but iam just tryin to get the cam in , money is tight so i was wonderin , i will not be driving the car till those mods are done but to and from the place i take it to. i might even have it towed , but has anyone done a cam swap with out the oil pump and timing chain, if i sound dumb i have never changed a cam in any of my cars , or know a grea deal about them , thanks god bless

    Since you really need to swap chains while your in there, you might aswell swap pumps too since its kinda a PITA to remove the pickup tube bolt and I wouldnt want to have to do it a second time.

    I think 99% of it is the fact that the car is torn down that far it only makes sense to go ahead and replace the pump. People have done it without replacing it but why risk a $4k motor over a $100 pump especially when you're 3" away from it when you're pulling the cam? It just makes sense to do it then.
