Pics of C5 based cars I build
Hey everyone. My name is John Chesnut. I love all types of high performance cars. I built a space frame to which the C5/6 suspension cradles and drivetrains bolt into. I move the engine rearward 20inches for true mid engine balance. My cars are as light as 1800lbs wet. They are true road rockets and corner like a slot car.
My first chassis is the stock C5's wheel base and track. I made a 23 model T inspired body and a body of my own design which is inspired by the 1950's sports racers. I am 6'2" tall and when I sit in the car my head is below the head fairing.
The second chassis is the same design as the first but has a 90 inch wheelbase. This is the stock Cobra's wheelbase. My Cobra is all Vette. To use the C5 diff I converted it to taking a driveshaft. I use 6 speeds in all of my cars. For the 90 inch wheel base chassis I have built my Cobra and I am in the process of building a 23 Model T inspired Truck.
I have lots of fun buiding and driving my creations. I know that they are not for everybody but I build them for myself. Thanks for looking!

Glad you like them. And, yes the T bucket was at Amherst. The T bucket is the fastest, best handling car that I have ever been in. It is also the hardest to keep at the speed limits!!
I am switching out the LS6 in the C5 truck and putting in a 538hp 427 stroker motor. This car is under 1800lbs. The cab roof will flip up to get in and out. Or it can be taken off by removing 2 pins for open air fun. Can't wait to get it on the road.

Welcome to the site!! I really like pretty much everything you've done there, although I'm easily pleased. Anything on a Vette platform looks good IMO
